What's new

For those of you that get sleep paralysis

The first time I experienced it I was about 14 and was pretty scared. I woke up after a minute. It periodically happened over a few years. I'd always try to wake myself up. I've rralized that doesn't work and it's easiest to just go back to sleep. I think it happens more than I'm aware now simply because I'm used to it, I don't panic, and I just go back to sleep.

It used to happen to me a lot when I was younger. Lasted more than seconds, up to 10 minutes sometimes. It was always when i was taking a nap during the day, not my normal sleep patterns. It's horrible. the worst is when i knew i needed to wake up for whatever reason, and couldnt. It's been a few years since it's happened.

I've only had this happen twice. It sucks. Never any intruders or monsters doe. Just me freaking out.

Pretty much like being Joe Bonham in Johnny Got His Gun - except you can't do Morse code.

I had never heard of it. If I experience it now that I have, I'm going to punch Archie in the *******.

@Archie - please call me if you want to discuss. I won't discuss it here as too many already view me as an attention virgin, but I know more about this than Obama knows about stupid ****.

not kidding, btw.. I can explain it better than anyone or book.

I could always force some sort of sound out, just a faint grunt or whatever, trying to get someones attention. For me I think it was stress related.

wow.. never spoke with anyone that experienced similar things.. it's more serious, imo, than most take it.

I get that same thing where i use all my energy to get out a faint grunt. But, according to others, I don't make any noise in reality. Also, like Chrisbro, the only times I've gotten it is during naps in the afternoon. I think it's more random for me than it is stress related because I can't think of any possible stress, especially the second time it happened.

I am not kidding and am not being dramatic when I say this is serious stuff.
I'm shocked there are two people on one small board experiencing this. Call me and I will give you chapter and verse on what is going on.
