What's new

Any bi-nationals here?

Probably nothing changed unless somebody made a stink and forced some bureaucrats to do some work. I think the dual thing is great, actually. I wish the whole world was American in spirit at least.

You bet they are. All thanks to globalized popular culture.

You guys that might be able to get it, definitely should do the leg work now and get it done. Those countries can always change their rules and freeze you out in the future. If other people that don't have "ins" often pay $100,000's for the same privilege..........

Nah, it just means you can spend more time doing things that challenge/interest you, rather than being stuck in a boring job just to get by.

I was under the impression you loved your job that I believe you started because you hated your previous job? You still doing flowers?

If your work doesn't challenge and interest you, you need a new job.

Originally I was working for a big 4 accounting firm... wasn't bad but wasn't much of a life (typical office job, climbing the corporate ladder). After that I've been helping run a family business for the past 5 years building it from the ground up and it's going pretty well. Although the money's about the same, it's a much better lifestyle and I loved working outdoor & meeting customers, etc.

Having said that, there are a lot of other stuff I'd like to do if I don't have to be running the business 24/7. Check out other industries of interest, etc. As an example, I'm currently holidaying in Thailand. One of my friends here is a magazine editor and she gets to go to all the different movie premiers and attend VIP functions, etc, because of the nature of her job. I went to one of these with her the other day and I can't deny that these sort of events really interests me. Getting to meet with actors and directors and chatting with them, etc. Not saying I would be involved in the movie industry but may be something relating to the NBA one day? Basketball is a fast growing sport here in Thailand and I would love to be helping in some ways to market it. Don't know the angle yet but not many here have a good grasp of English so it shouldn't be difficult to get a foot in.

Those are the sorts of things I don't get a chance to do currently but hopefully I'll be able to do that after another 2-3 years.
