Any bi-nationals here?

My dad met my mum in the services and they decided to have me on a USA base so I got dual citizenship. My mum is the USA one. She was very patriotic as you would expect from a military member. My dad was too but its different form of patriotism in UK. We're more about being British kinda clan like where youre more about ideals that USA supposedly stands for. For example we dont cry over national anthems like you guys do. More like we get drunk and sing it loud as possible because we are proud Brits and thats what Brits do.

Tea time, cheers.

Anyway, ive always kinda had issues with where my patriotism should lie. I grew up in UK but I spent a lot of time on USA military bases. 2 years down under, mates. Lucky for me we are allies and as similar as any 2 countries can be. Except we have county character where America really does not. So there arent really technical issues to resolve only how i can give my loyalty to one master.

Anyone else deal with these issues?

I'm dual Canadian/American, and could possibly work Italian citizenship through my maternal grandfather (ethnic Slovenian). I see absolutely no need to feel/proclaim/give/pledge loyalty to any country.

I'm all British, but three generations on American soil. My grandpa had a half brother who was a Brit spy during the American Revolution. He settled in Canada afterwards. But my "Brit" includes 3/8 Scot plus 1/4 Wech, for sure.
Then how am I supposed to count Norman ancestry? I've got people in France back the 500 AD range, and being some Royalty myself, according to family lore, on both sides. Some Spanish roots and even Berber roots in that, and then there's the one ancestor from "Old Jewry" in London circa 1400, giving me a name that some English Jews sport.

One legend has it I'm a descendant of King George via a profligate son. . . Another has it my Norman lines founded the Brit Royals in the first place. But what really counts is being a descendant of Jesus. Uncle Joseph of Arimathea carefully shephereded Jesus' wives and kids outta Jerusalem on his tin freighters back to the tin mines of Cornwall, bringing the silver chalice with them. you know, the one that means everything, that nobles have been questing for across the centuries. . . . that one. The Holy Grail.

But what really burns me most is the way Englishmen had to fight for their rights and secure them from the arrogant kings. . . .you know. . . make the Royal Arses sign off on a few paltry British rights, the foundation of British Law, you know. . . . that document. . . . what's it called. . . . the Magna Carta. Seems, though that a lot of other legal influences have worked their way into the system, and the Royals have to put up with a lot of common sense. But hey, that's not the end of it, for sure. Now we have a new generation of laws coming out of the fascist UN governance ideals, wherein new interpretations of citizens' "rights and responsibilities" under Prince Phillip's inordinate influence are carefully defining human beings as mere chattel possessions of the royals once again, with only those privileges that are considered tolerable by management, and lots of "responsibilities" that ring out like liege duties to the Lords of the Castles.

Being an "American" once meant standing, with your life on the line, to defend human liberty. If you're not that, and you reside in the United States, you're a tory.

Sounds like you and Adam have some history.

Was born in Germany and both parents are born in Kosovo, so I probably could get something other than Canadian if I wanted to.

I am a Mormon/American. Should be a protected class, tbh.

Is it weird to say that I might be but I'm honestly not sure?

I definitely know that I at least used to hold dual American/Australian citizenship (my dad's from Adelaide). I remember hearing something about that I'd have to choose one and lose the other when I turned 18. Then the time came and I seem to remember that there was some confusion as to whether I actually had to give up the dual citizenship or not.

So, yeah. I might technically still be an Aussie. I'm not even sure how I'd go about checking. I suppose my parents would probably know if I asked them.

Probably nothing changed unless somebody made a stink and forced some bureaucrats to do some work. I think the dual thing is great, actually. I wish the whole world was American in spirit at least.

New Zealand/Thai

Got both passports... makes it really convenient for travelling between both countries (no visa, can stay as long as you want in both). Happy to live in both, but it's obviously much cheaper/better to have investments in NZ while retiring in Thailand. That's the plan in 2-3 years time.

I think I'm bi-national. I would happily have a threesome with an Asian chick and a Latina.

You bet they are. All thanks to globalized popular culture.

You guys that might be able to get it, definitely should do the leg work now and get it done. Those countries can always change their rules and freeze you out in the future. If other people that don't have "ins" often pay $100,000's for the same privilege..........
