I don't think so. Utah was trying to keep Kanter's trade value out of the gutter. If he gets sent to the bench and never has games like those 17/24 & 16/23 nights, we might have ended up dumping him for even less than we got. Also, I still think they were trying to keep him placated long enough to go into the offseason and hopefully get him signed long term, which would have made him considerably more valuable as an asset. I don't think it was a given that he was getting dumped at the deadline, had he not made the trade demand. Even the assets Utah brought back in the Kanter trade point to the fact Utah was not making moves to win immediately.

I guess if you believe the coach is always just trying to win the game in front of him, then Snyder should be criticized for that. I don't really think that's the case here, as I believe Snyder was trying to be on the same page as DL.
More like it was Snyder being a bit scared to yank a starter and hurt his fragile emotions.
