His jump shot cannot be undervalued. Felt like he was money when he took the open jumper.
Good call. I should have mentioned that about favors. Probably his biggest improvement

Good post and good point about Snyder

Only disagree on a couple. I think Booker is a solid B. He added some "nasty" which spread to others and did what we expected as a sub. The volleyball shot will forever be one of my favorites. And extra credit for cutting Kanter down to size with his remarks.

Elijah gets at least a C+, IMO. We knew he wasn't a shooter. But he gave us everything he had on the defensive end. Limited talent but HUGE heart.

Agree on in the rest, including the incomplete for Burks. Alec improved his 3PT shooting but I suspect the lower percentage around the rim was directly connected to his shoulder injury.

good point about Snyder

I don't think so. Utah was trying to keep Kanter's trade value out of the gutter. If he gets sent to the bench and never has games like those 17/24 & 16/23 nights, we might have ended up dumping him for even less than we got. Also, I still think they were trying to keep him placated long enough to go into the offseason and hopefully get him signed long term, which would have made him considerably more valuable as an asset. I don't think it was a given that he was getting dumped at the deadline, had he not made the trade demand. Even the assets Utah brought back in the Kanter trade point to the fact Utah was not making moves to win immediately.
.
I guess if you believe the coach is always just trying to win the game in front of him, then Snyder should be criticized for that. I don't really think that's the case here, as I believe Snyder was trying to be on the same page as DL.

True

I base my grades on expectations before the season, not against what other players in the league are doing.

Gobert - A++ - he gobliderated my expectation for him
Hayward - A - He lived up to his contract and keeps getting better
Favors A - He was a good steady all season and improved more offensively than I thought he would.
Exum C - He was much better defensively and much worse offensively than I expected.
Hood B - If not for the slow start and injuries I would go A. The end of the season was quite impressive.
Booker A - I was hoping for an okay role player, he was a great role player and brought the fire.
Ingles B+ - He exceeded what I thought slowsky would be capable of. Many smart and effective moments for him.
Kanter F--- - He was ok and had his usual lack of D.... then had a nuclear reactor meltdown. He is dead to me.
All others - C- Look, our bench was out played all season. Not acceptable. I won't bother singling out Burke.

More like it was Snyder being a bit scared to yank a starter and hurt his fragile emotions.

Wow, Hayward with an A that is a joke. He started out the season aggressive sure. But, once everyone got going he faded quickly. If that is what you ask from your highest paid player on the team then I don't see how more overrated role players aren't lining up at our doors.

Transparent as glass.

Gobert. B+. Great defense great leader and desire but at times got beat by his man in mid to low post and was pushed around and struggled at times struggled with finishing. If not for those things he gets an A.

Hayward. B- stepped up as our go to and best player and more consistent as a shooter. However he often disappeared For long stretches and at times needed to demand the ball more and take over more consistently at the end of games.

Favors. A- favors made huge strides on offense both in the low post and on the perimeter on offense. I did not see him developing a midrange game this last year, and likewise he was 100% improved in the low post. He showed improved touch and footwork and finishing ability. What kept him from an A is that he felt he had to defer to Gobert on defense namely rebounding. I would've liked to see him get another rebound a game to take some pressure off of Gobert.

Burks. A+. Part of this better then expected grade has to do with his work and study he did while sitting out due to injury. Also he was at all the games cheering on his mates. Think he did a lot of growing up and maturing. He showed he had a great attitude about his injury setback. And think he is much more respected by his teammates for it. As for his work on the court. Yes he was less aggressive driving and getting to the ft line but feel he had to adjust to him not being healthy. He did however make himself a force on the boards after he was challenged by coach Q to rebound better he did. Also he seemed to really improve his mid and long range game. I am confident that his aggressive nature will return if 100% healthy. this year Burks put in a lot of work and did a lot to hopefully raise his on court IQ. If he has done that... Look out!!!

Ingles. A+. Wow what a diamond in the rough. Thank yo Clippers for overlooking his talent. And applaud Q for seeing who Ingles could be. Ingles. Ingles is a great glue guy off the bench that can take control of the offense as a point forward. As the year went on he adapted to the NBA game his he was no longer just a set shooter. He did it off the dribble and as a catch and shoot player, and while doing those things improved his accuracy to boot after the Allstar break he shot over 40% from three. Hell even now he's underrated here at jazzfanz. Also lets not forget he also played hard and scrappy on defense and very cunning on both ends of the court. He also showed that he could improve on his mistakes and shortcomings. For example he seemed to always get caught on the base line with nowhere to go. By seasons end this was no longer a problem. One of my favorite players.

Exum. D. First want to say that he looked improved from SL to the first game of the season. His shot and handles were better it seemed and good on him playing all 82 and showing great potential and better then expected defense. The bad. Exum was afraid to step out of his comfort zone therefor he made few mistakes, and as a rookie this is how we learn and get better. Hopefully we see that from him this year.

Burke. D- felt he took a step back as a playmaker. Burks played more like Kobe then say a true pg. he turned the ball over a lot more this year. I remember Burke getting praised for protecting the ball. I will praise him for his willingness to play a bench role. If he wants to remain relivent, he needs to realize his core strengths and weaknesses and adjust accordingly.

Sorry this is all I have time for. Might do more later. Would like to get to Booker and lilsap.
