The Pesky Timberwolves will need to win more than 20 games with their young core in a season before you go placing them above the Jazz. Acquiring talent is one thing. Turning that talent into a cohesive team is another entirely. Wolves have shown they kind of suck at that last part for almost a decade now.

His proof is that so many other teams are starting our former players. He's certain we would have been much better if we'd held on to those guys. He cannot comprehend the change in philosophy from signing journeymen to drafting and developing talent, and he absolutely refused to believe that we were purposely tanking or that teams would benefit in any way if they did. It will be interesting to see how he reacts as they rise to the top. My guess is that he will simply jump aboard the bandwagon and won't even remember or understand that he ranted against virtually every move they made in order to reach this point.

Whenever I go to a party, people will talk jazz with me cause they know im a huge fan.
They are always down about the jazz and say that we will just develop our players and then give them away to be good others for other teams. And they always bitch about us losing kanter for "nothing"
I try to explain that the jazz re-signed Hayward, Burks, and favors and that rudy will not be going anywhere any time soon and that the jazz have very good young players under contract for multiple more years.

They never understand and just assume that all our good players will leave and do well elsewhere.

I'd take Philly off and put New Orleans #1 because the brow is that good. He took NO to the playoffs last year. I'd trade any three players of Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Burks, And Hood for the Brow.

Dude, New Orleans has a pretty decent team outside of Davis, 5 guys averaging more than 13 points a game with Asik providing a strong bench big. Only Davis and Holiday are under 25. They don't have a "young core" outside of Davis. They are a playoff team mostly in their prime. It just sucks for them they are in the Western Conference. I don't think, however, Davis is good enough by himself to push that crew into the top 4 in the West, and they are kind of screwed for surrounding him with more talent or squeezing much more out of what they have outside of Davis. The Jazz, on the other hand, can still expect developmental progress from several different players which is the definition of "young core."

My brother is not Ian, but it does not surprise me that you had this conversation with someone else. There are a ton of people who have never looked beyond the surface and therefore they have no idea what is going on. Once the word gets out that the team is a contender these people are going to hop onto the bandwagon in droves. Winning is the only thing most fans care about.

THIS. Also add the fact that the Jazz were the best defensive team in the league after Gobert took over, the Jazz deserve to be #1 on this list. Historically speaking, teams as young as the Jazz aren't very good defensively. This is what excites me the most about this team...
