Jeff Withey Signed

CHAMPIONSHIP!
Withey is definitely the missing piece. Jazz will be the first team in history to win the title with three 7 ft'ers on the team, but without a top-50 PG.

Not sure how he really fits the team. But it seems like Utah is now committed to having Favors play full-time at PF. That's probably a good thing.

Ummm. You obviously haven't paid much attention to the NBA. Do you not recall the Lakers about 5 years ago? Their dynasty came to a head when they had 3 x 7 footers and a NOT a top 30 pg. They booted us from the playoffs a number of years in a row. See 2007/08 (not champs), 2008/09 and 2009/10 season - NBA champs two years in a row:

7.0'+ Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Mbenga, Chris Mihm
Almost 7.0': Lamar Odom played the 3
Not a top 25 point at the time: Derek Fisher

The Jazz got beat by them enough times to pay attention to how they got whooped. I think what Lamar Odom did for them is one of weighted reason why we drafted Trey Lyles given our roster makeup. You don't need a great point guard in this league to win a championship. Height is a difference maker as long as you have a capable setup man and quality defender at the pg spot.

Pretty much have to. Exum will count against the 15-man number, so keeping Neto, Cotton and Trey gives you three active.
Unless you factor alec into the pg mix

Weren't there quite a few odd and very paranoid posts from you? ....stuff about you tracking people down, having strange premonitions of the future, and statements about how you could manifest your visions...? Ish like that?

I tried to PM you with this but your inbox is full. Here's my response:

I never had premonitions nor claimed any psychic powers. I did track down one guy though whose alts were viciously attacking me on the board and in private messages. It was One Brow, who still to this day denies it. However, I discussed it with Vinylone, presenting my evidence and he agreed. Even Colton was suspicious but he could never verify my claim. Interestingly, after I called One Brow and confronted him, the attacks stopped.

In any case, that has all been exaggerated. There was also a claim I broke into Enes's home -- I don't live in SLC and had never been there until this summer. So, that's all nonsense.

I don't want to get into the evolution of it all, but it was basically because I took AK's side in the debate as to why his role on the team diminished with the advent of Deron. Well, the site was overpopulated with Deron supporters and you know how I doggedly defend myself. I should have relented and let it go. Anyway, that's why I changed my username.

No, I'm not crazy just neurotic.

Pretty much. **** like movies The Fan, The Gift and others where some dude is totally out of touch with reality and ****s up some innocent person's life.

I'm hardly out of touch with reality. If you went to One Brow's site and saw his conversations with Aint, then you'd be wondering too, or the 40-page thread on here that was a dialogue solely between Aint and One Brow -- yes, this happened.

Sorry, I overlooked the unforgettable players, Mbenga and Mihm, who both had illustrious NBA careers. And, in reality, we know who the real PG for the Lakers was: Kobe. Fisher's job was to stand at the 3PT line and let Kobe do his job. Fisher was one of the best throughout his career at giving LA exactly what they needed. He was never a ball dominant player like Utah has in Trey.

And isn't this a "small ball" era? Lindsey would be better off finding a versatile 4/5 instead of Withey. Or concentrating on Utah's true weakness: PG. Burke, Cotton, Neto is a the weakest PG rotation in the NBA. None of them could even carry Fisher's jock (and I hate him with a passion). And we don't exactly have a Kobe at SG. So the comparison to LA, or wanting to match up against that 2010 team is misdirected. I think we better worry about matching up against GS, Cleveland and whoever we see as rising teams in the NBA.

Oh man, the conversations between those two were legendary. Was always good just for ***** and giggles.

29 inch max vert pretty solid for a guy his size. I doubt Gbert's is mucher higher.

Exactly Rudy's reported draft vertical. Withey is reasonably athletic for a 7 footer, definitely not a stiff. I saw he was slammed for lateral movement, but in the tape I saw he looked decent.

Gripe I have from Kansas tape is lack of motor and brain cramps. Not sure if this has changed in the NBA.

Withey is a wildly undervalued player in the NBA. Has size, protects the rim, shoots > 50% from the field, not a complete liability from the stripe. How is he signing a deal like this for a team that doesn't need him? Mind-blowing to me.

Trend in NBA is to value stretch bigs, undervalue rim protectors. DL is making a contrarian bet and picking him up for value.

But it seems like Utah is now committed to having Favors play full-time at PF. That's probably a good thing.

It is a curious turnaround. I remember hearing DL spin that "Favors is really a 5" in 2014 pre-season, and thinking that he does not really see it that way, but is trying to rationalize Kanter-Favors as a starting front court.
