Then why didn't the team that got to watch him play for 3 full seasons recognize his deficiencies and unload him sooner? Or do you think it's unlikely the Jazz would've gotten more in return had they not waited until the last minute?
Because Corbin sucked. It's not unreasonable for Quin to walk in, see Kanter's offensive ability, and think, with good coaching, if we can turn him into an adequate defender, we have a heck of a player. That takes some time to try and to evaluate. After a half season, it became apparent, Kanter just doesn't get it. So they traded him.
I think that's reasonable.
