Great insight from Boler/Locke

While this is still a shock. I'm am convinced they don't make this deal if they believe there was a great chance at keeping him. My ideal scenario now is watching him walk away from the Nets with them getting nothing. :)

Why, so he can go to the Lakers???

Keep him in the east, man. I don't think Prok makes this deal if he didn't think he could convince Me-Will to stay.

Nah. He'll go to the Knicks to make their new triple threat. Just because he thinks he can does not mean he can.

You could tell when D.Will played in the spotlight during All-Star Games and the Olympics how much he liked the media attention.

How come we never hear complaints out of players who play in San Antonio? That place isn't much fun.

They win championships

Plane crash.

Mail averaged 15 and 9 in his first year.
Not saying that Favors = Malone, but comparing rookie seasons is a bit unfair. Favors is 19 and had one year of college, Karl was 21 and had 3 years of college. There's a bit of an experience gap there.

#1- VERY sick of the cold weather

Good thing he's going to warm New Jersey... Oh wait...

2 years from now people are going to be praising KOC for this brilliant move. NJ is the real loser in all of this. They gave us some nice assets and will have nothing to show for it.

Why do some of you insist on comparing players to hall of famers?

Favors=Malone? Seriously?

If the man can just give us Tyson Chandler/Ibaka like production that'll be great! We desperately need a shotblocking/rebounding presence.

Favors could end up being better. But for now, lets concentrate on him being a productive player, not arguably one of the best players to ever live.

I never thought I would ever say this but that is pretty good insight from Boler and Locke. I expected some kind of bang down comment from Boler but otherwise that is interesting info.

Boler:

I heard this interview as well.

I doubt Deron's staying in cold New Jersey. Even once they move to Brooklyn, doubt he's staying there. NJ sucks and will always be second fiddle to the real NY team.

He'll bolt NJ to join his third team, Dallas.

I think Deron's already tainted his legacy. His most notable achievement thus far wasn't getting the Jazz to the WCF. Or winning the MVP. Or becoming the best PG in the league (since that's obviously Rose now). It was running a legend out of town.

True, Jerry's departure might be great for us long term. But Deron is already showing red flags with his poor attitude, inability to lead, incompatibility with coaches, inability to stay with the quicker guards, and failing jumper.

If the man fails to improve NJ significantly, he must prepare himself for an onslaught of critics.

It surely will be interesting how much his stock rises or falls in the next few years depending on his production, NJ's success, our own success, and on the new CBA.

I'm of the opinion that Deron has peaked as a player. He's still damn good of course. But moving forward, I'd be surprised if he's ever better than he's been the past 2-3 seasons.

This is a dead on assessment. As I mentioned in my original post, Boler as well as "others" in the Jazz front office feel like Deron will be a player who plays for 3 or 4 teams over the course of his career and eat coaches alive in the process.

My prediction on D-Will's legacy once he leaves the NBA: An insanely talented PG who was moody but played hard regardless of who he played for. Always looking for the next great thing, spent his career bouncing around from team to team and coach to coach.

wasn't sure which of the theads to post this in, but it seems newsworthy to me...

as ever, BEST OF LUCK TO D-WILL AND HIS FAMILY

...Having spoken briefly with Williams, whose wife Amy is soon expecting the couple’s fourth child, King said the point guard is excited by the opportunity to help the Nets build as they gradually transition from Newark to Brooklyn over the next 1 ½ years. Williams becomes a franchise cornerstone, along with center Brook Lopez, as both King and Nets coach Avery Johnson touted each as ranking among the best in the league at their respective positions....

Are you trying to troll?

I don't think this was as big of deal as reported. He did choose to play at Illinois for college and if the Jazz were contending he wouldn't worry about the weather so much.

I'm not so sure that Deron Williams is the kind of difference maker that Carmelo Anthony is.

That being said, I'm not sure if you need an elite level PG to win an NBA championship.

On the bright side, we got 6 great years from Deron Williams. Went to a conference finals and was mostly competitive in the playoffs while he was here. Losing Boozer and Korver we already were kind of gearing towards rebuilding anyways, and since we probably couldn't get a solid commitment from Deron Williams it was better that we got a lot more value out of him then he'll probably give to the Nets.
