Trey Lyles Career-High 19pts --- Highlights!!!

Well Booker has a concussion and Favors still is suffering from ebola or whatever is truly wrong with him. So Lyles will continue to see major time when the Lakers come to town on Saturday night. New career high? 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2 ast, 2 steals and a block?

Fun to see , I think him and Exum are going to seriously help Utah in passing the ball to actually make baskets than just passing the ball alot and adding up to no assists by the Jazz next year

Trey scored 18 points 2 times for Kentucky(in consecutive games), that was his career high in college.. I can remember some of his detractors in the Draftees thread pointing that out.

So this is the most points he's scored in a game since HS..

Coming out of HS, his one year at UK, and coming into the draft, he was projected to become a very good shooter, good court vision, and has high bb IQ (mitigated) by being laterally slow on his feet.

In other words, good at about everything but would never become a good defender.

I for one was not convinced with the draft pick of Trey Lyles, but he is really developing with all of the injuries. Great games the last two and if he doesn't deserve to be on the rookie ladder now, I don't know who does.

Also, do you guys remember when some HACK said this less than a week ago:

"The common theme the Jazz seem to use for drafting, is just try to bring in "good guys". It seems like they are willing to pass up potential for safe picks too.

This gets so old and frustrating. At what point do they say to themselves, we actually want to win, and we are gonna take some chances?

Trey Lyles is a perfect example of this. He's got all the makings of a good role player, and zero star potential. You are kidding yours if you think otherwise. So the question is, what is the point of that? Why spend a bunch of time developing a guy that you could replicate pretty easily in a trade or free agency?

I know it's hard to land a star at the 14th pick, but you still have to take swings and try. There were a bunch of players picked after Lyles that have higher upside than him."

Ha ha ha... attaboy Ringer...

Sooooo impressive. That fake handoff blow by of Rudy Gay and dunk in light traffic... I have been waiting for a jazz big to do the fake handoff all year. That shot is automatic from the corner right now.

His rebounds have declined because Rudy is a rebound vacuum. His defense isn't terrible right now. Give him a real PG or a threat like Alec Burks and wow. I went from a 2.5 excitement level on him to a 10 overnight.

Hack needs to start a thread disparaging Favors and saying he is never coming back from this injury.

I agree, he looks like he could be the real deal and be our best player.

his passing ability is pretty good too. I hope he can develop into draymond green type of player. his defense will be concern but his offensive skill is impressive. 20 years old? sick

Wow.

That dunk on Cousins= Real-man type stuff.

That burst of speed at 0:47 is crazy. And the body control to slow down and make an athletic lay-up.

After watching the vid a few times it's really pretty unreal how good he looks. I'm officially high as kite on Lyles.

Passing is one of the last things that comes with development generally. The fact he's shown promise there at such a young age is great.

Watch his body control in these shots. Like where he drives in from the top of the key gets bumped as he jumps and in air. As he is falling to his left, parallel to the basket, he squares his body to the basket while in air and nails the J.

Hood always looks in control to me. Lyles even more so. Then you have Burks who never looks in control lol.

Hood and Lyles are gonna be legit pieces.

That balance.

Woopty Doo!!

He actually looked decent for once. It was against the worst defense in the league.

I've never said he's a bust. I've just said his ceiling isn't high enough. He will be at best as good as Hayward. Like Dr Jones said, he doesn't project to be a good defender. Everyone wants to be like Golden State and run a point forward out there, but Lyles will never be a defender like Draymond. So we are gonna get something less than Draymond, and we won't get the same type of results.

Funny how everyone is so excited about Lyles. In 5 years there will be Lyles trade threads because he won't be good enough to make us contenders. That's the point. We just keep drafting average players.

You have straight up said that Lyles sucks. So now he might be as good as Hayward? Does that mean Lyles could be a really good player or that Hayward sucks?
