Dealing Hayward now would act as a hedge against his free agency and perhaps land Utah a top-five pick -- one last shot at finding that elusive superstar. The Jazz have to at least think about calling Boston and Brad Stevens, Hayward's college coach, about a deal sending Hayward to the Celtics for the Nets pick, and maybe another first-rounder

That's not sexy, but the Jazz rarely do sexy, and they don't have to now, unless a can't-miss opportunity falls into their laps. We are always in a rush to break up a good team that lacks a superstar. Let's allow the Jazz to marinate. Let's see what this team is.

Yeah it made me think we need to do the Duhrun trade with Hayward... One step forward... two back.

It is time for Management to make an effing decision about what the eff we are doing. Slow builds are fine, but with contracts being shorter they can't be snail paced builds. We either need to move Hayward for picks and be truly about development or get some pieces that can help us win this year even if it means selling off some future assets or cap flexibility. Our current path leads to Hayward bailing for nothing because of lack of progress. That would be devastating.

This article is for the most part spot on, it's tone is more panicked then it needs to be though, The FO is positioned to obviate all of these issues... I don't think injuries will force their hand either, who's been more injured than Utah anyways?!? name me another team -- That's why I'm pretty sure the FO will be treating this season kinda like a mulligan.

The deals presented are mostly overpays for Utah, and I doubt they'd pull the trigger.

the Hayward deal is different though, that's got nothing to do with injuries, and everything to do with snowballing assets while preserving the cap(FLEXIBILITY)
If they could get that Celtics pick, plus another 1st from Boston. Haywards a great player but moving him out of the conference lessens the blow...

That's 2 possible lottery picks this year. Jaylen Brown and Furkan Korkmaz look like solid projects on the wing, Hood looks like he could handle .. As i've stated before if they start trading these younger vets for rookie deals, they could keep the team average age low for many, many seasons to come. It's a good plan, and buys them more time to find(develop) a catalyst for some explosive offense (without paying top dollar to do so).

We don't even need to go that far IMO. One more consistent playmaker and we would probably whether this storm. I think we could get a guy like Lou Williams would have helped us whether the storm. We needed to add a pg or wing this offseason and passed... When Exum went down we needed to adjust. That depth might have changed a handful of these close games.

I understand why we didn't address third big because we drafted lyles and Booker was good last year... But we needed perimeter depth either through a wing or pg... Guys were available and we passed. Literally any deal outside of the Kanter or Asia deals signed this offseason would have been another asset. This is the product of being too passive in the offseason. It's not haywards fault or any of our players... I wouldn't blame Hayward if he wanted out. Guy wants to win and we are bakking, cooking, and developing our way to the middle... Actually lower middle. We've not done near enough to support these guys by providing talent around them.

This may be why the Jazz have allowed Hood to takeover end of games to see what they have.

For a 2nd year player Hood does awesome IMO. Way better than Hayward's 2nd year.

Also explains why Locke has been building up Haywards numbers of late (increase trade value).

Hayward would kill it in the East.

The main points of this article have been in the back of my mind for a while. However, I'm really not attached to any of these guys except Gobert because of unique skill-set. I love Favors, Hayward, Burks and Hood but I'd be all for trading any and all of them if it made the team better.

The one thing I do know is if The Jazz push the re-set button like they did 3 years ago without bringing back equal or better talent then I'm gone for good. I imagine anyone who values their time would do the same.
