Bruhs if the team stays young and flexible, hows that mean the rebuild has failed? doesn't that mean the rebuild is ongoing??

This is the best swingman in the draft, I posted the video in another thread, but I'm leaving it here too. He's very athletic(and fluid), turns 20 at the start of next NBA season..

it's not like there'd be some massive void if Hayward gets traded for a top 5 pick, and another 1st rounder. Jaylen Brown can play defense like Gordon Hayward, the drop off would infact be minimal on that end of the floor.

Hood looks ready, and Alec's good when he's healthy, plus there's plenty of $$ left over, enough for Lebron James tbh, they could bid on other top wings this offseason too. Beals injured again, I'd certainly think about trying to run up the price on DeRozan.

I like that this article mentions trading Hayward before he walks, like Millsap and Jefferson. It gets an A+ from me, just for that, the timing is good.

The way this guy moves reminds me a lot of Eric Gordon coming out of Indy.

He wasn't 6'10 with a 7'3" wingspan either.. He was a first option offense player and scored fractionally under 30ppg one season, I'm sure he picked up a few tricks along the way playing in the 90's 00's and 10's...

Ingram's always been the best player on his team, and thats running true at Duke thus far. He showed up in that loss last night, his teammates didn't (they're injured too)

He's not going to be in the Jazz range unless they hit on a top-3 lottery pick anyway so don't get your hopes up.

The one thing I do know is if The Jazz push the re-set button like they did 3 years ago without bringing back equal or better talent then I'm gone for good. I imagine anyone who values their time would do the same.

Yep, cashing in a 5 year rebuild for a fresh and much less certain rebuild... I've got a lot of other **** I could spend my time on.

Maybe I'm nuts but I'm not so sure that they should. Hayward is crazy efficient and would probably complement James better. Honestly I think this would make both teams better(assuming LBJ doesn't miss an extended period of time)
 
I think there are a bunch of fans, many of them here, who want to watch rebuilds, speculate on recruits, dream up trades, etc., more than they want to watch their team play to win.
 
Very good article. This is the most important part: "Even if they wanted to, all the injuries have cost them a year of information that would have helped them make hard choices"

It is not just Exum's development, but how the team fits around Exum.

I'm still optimistic. They will have to make some tough choices on which young players we prioritize as core "keepers." There are "only" six possibilities: Gobert, Exum, Hayward, Hood, Favors, Lyles. That is pretty good talent, size and athleticism to pick from. Everyone else is expendable or could be contracted opportunistically for the right price.

I don't mind being one of the whistleblowers about this stuff, it's a hobby of mine, and I like to look at the long-term -- when I take several steps back and look at whats on the NBA's horizon in the next few years, it's going to be a shock-wave of talent, I'm certain. It's not just the 2017 draft, 2018 will be epically loaded, 2019 appears to have some really absurdly talented players too...


The Jazz have been trading for these picks!! They've been hitting on them too the last few years, there's reason for excitement. One of the reasons I chose to be a Jazz fan is I trusted this FO's vision years ago, and as time passes I agree with these tactics. They facilitated last years Finals MVP getting to Golden State to return a 1st round pick, there's definitely a long-term blueprint being followed, It's a much more effective(and respectable) plan than the 76ers have too.

If ya look at the tone of this article, it's like the 108 million dollar cap won't be enough.. and the Jazz need to be worried about players getting poached/walk for nothing.. right? I don't see any reason to panic as things stand now, I don't think "we've got a bunch of good young players, now lets bake the cake" Is a good idea either, that's being complacent IMO. Gotta always scan the radars for upgrades, ya can always do better.

I understand why we didn't address third big because we drafted lyles and Booker was good last year... But we needed perimeter depth either through a wing or pg... Guys were available and we passed. Literally any deal outside of the Kanter or Asia deals signed this offseason would have been another asset. This is the product of being too passive in the offseason. It's not haywards fault or any of our players... I wouldn't blame Hayward if he wanted out. Guy wants to win and we are bakking, cooking, and developing our way to the middle... Actually lower middle. We've not done near enough to support these guys by providing talent around them.
