Jazz VS Dallas Game Thread - WE WON!!!!!!

With Gasol breaking his foot there are very good chances of making the playoffs if we don't screw it up. Even better, if we could be 6th or better, we would avoid the Warriors and Spurs and even though this young and naive team remains very likely to lose, our chances are there...

Our bench really showed up last night.
Booker 19 minutes. 4-4 from the field
lyles 14 minutes. 4-7 from the field and 3-4 from the line. Highest +/- on the team
CJ 21 minutes 1-2 from the field (both shots were three pointers) 2-2 from the line and 7 REBOUNDS!
ingles 18 minutes 2-4 from the field. (all 4 shots were threes)
and even erik green made a couple of shots in his 12 minutes.

And, like the game against Chicago, CJ makes the hustle play of the game on a loose ball missed basket by Utah at the end of regulation.

BTW this is the origin of Hayward's 'Step back' shot.

Oh my. I keep forgetting how skinny and frail he used to be. If Hood can get bigger and stronger like Hayward has. . . the Harden (with defense) comparisons are legit. My son loves the step-back shot. He'll love this video. Have to rep.

Hood is SO versatile. Outside catch and shoot. Off the screen. Taking his guy off the dribble. Getting open off ball on defensive rotations. Step back. Spinning, fade away. Rebound putback. Pick and roll. Pick and pop. He does it all. In watching that video, two things in particular really stood out to me.

#1. His handle has gotten SO much better in just a year. He looked very comfortable with the ball in his hands creating for himself and others.

#2. He is a supremely confident offensive player. His shooting down the stretch was a thing of beauty and the running three to force OT was incredible. Jazz can go to either him or Hayward in those situations with confidence. His future is SO bright.

Any highlights of Lyles. I couldn't watch the game, and it sounded like he was abusing Dirk when he got into the game. Feeling better and better about him as a long-term piece of the puzzle. Can't believe it's the same guy that simply could not score at the beginning of the year. Had to grow up really fast in the NBA.

Only thing I didn't see him do was dunk it. Everything else was there.

I'm pretty sure Lyles had 3 layups where Dirk just played o'lay defense. On a fourth attempt Lyles got to the line on a Dirk push.

P3. Add some explosion to his physicality. Still, his touch around the rim was pretty nice also.

Honestly I am not worried about dunks at all. If he can do everything else then whatever. We have Hayward, Burks, Favors, Gobert...for dunks. Hood is becoming the sorely needed shooter on the wing in addition to Hayward that the jazz need.
