What's new

Who do you side with?

My top three were:
1. Rubio at 81%
2. Trump at 80% (scares the **** out of me)
3. Cruz at 79%

I answered all but one or two questions, but only looked at the "other stances" on about half of them. I don't think it would change all that much.

I breezed through mine so I don't know how accurate it is.
I still found it funny.

Rubio 93%
Bush 90%
Cruz 88%
Carson 88%
Trump 82%
Johnson 78%
Bloomberg 59%
Sanders 27%
Clinton 13%

The fact so many got Sanders frightens me.

I am sincerely curious whether;
1) Americans are lazy, welfare-minded, robots
2) Political correctness has gone to a whole new and ridiculous level
3) We have been infiltrated by robots

There are no other possibilities.
I'm thinking it's likely mostly #2 - in more ways than one.

I think it is the fact that a lot of young people don't have the american dream anymore. They were told to go to school and that would lead to success.

Now they have tons of student loans, no chance to own a small business, healthcare is not affordable, housing is not affordable, etc...

Take a look at my FIL and father. They graduated as professionals in the 70's and 80's. One graduated with $25,000 in student loans and made $75,000 his first year out. His first house was a 3,000 sq ft house for $150,000. His first car was a sports car that cost him $3,000. The other father figure gradated with $18,000 in debt and made $24,000 his first year out. His first car was $1,500 and his first house was $45,000.

Father #1 graduated with less than $200,000 in debt and made over $100,000 within his first 5 years. The second graduated with $70,000 in debt and made over $35,000 his first 5 years out.

A kid going into the same profession today? Graduated with $250,000 in student loans, a 3,000 sq foot house costs $300,000 (if you are in Utah. If you are in most other states, it is closer to $550,000) and his first care is $20,000. Oh, and his salary is still in the $75,000-100,000 range.

Can you see how people are disillusioned?

Then you toss in baby boomers that have had more wealth than anyone ever in the history of the US and they have done nothing but buy McMansions and go to Disneyland and have no real "wealth" to show for it. Now those baby boomers are bagging on millennials for not working hard....

Then you have the Republicans running around saying how Obama is a socialist for the last 9 years...yet, Obama has had a pretty successful presidency. So, if Obama is a socialist and he has done some good things, well, maybe Bernie ain't so bad.

Then you have the super pacs. Bill Clinton spent 33 million on his last presidential run. Hillary Clinton will spend close to 2 billion on her presidential bid. Do you think my vote means anything? Nope. Clinton/Rubio/Trump are all owned by the same people. Doesn't matter who wins out of those three. They will all do the same things.

I don't think it is lazy people who are voting for Sanders. In fact, the polls show the opposite. It is doctors, lawyers, young professionals with outrageous student loan debt and pay 30% in taxes while Trump/Romney/Waltons pay 13% in taxes.

It is actually the white, uneducated, social program using people voting for the Republicans.

Also, when Ron Paul comes out and says Bernie is the closest thing we have to a libertarian...well, put another reason on the list why his support is growing.

It's all moot though. I don't think Bernie makes it through today.

I think it's funny that the majority actually believe the 1%ers fear a socialist-minded President.
You simply change the way you do business.
It doesn't have much effect on the wealthy, helps the poor, and destroys the middle.

Link please? I hold Ron Paul in very high regards.

I know Bernie has a non-interventionist approach in foreign affairs, that alone could save the US Gov billions of dollars. I think that's where we should start without a doubt, cool things down overseas and focus in domestic affairs. The money spent in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Siria... could all have gone to other purposes.

Exactly. Stop wasting out money and invest it here at home. Updating our infrastructure, vets, education, medical research, healthcare...

I got Sanders at 86%... I can say that I'm somewhat embarrassed by this, as I definitely do not feel the Bern. What's worse is that Clinton came in third at 78%, with some chick I've never heard of named Jill Stein in the middle.

Looks like I'll be writing in Dave Ballou this year.

feel the Bern bish

I dunno about that, son. America has a worse middle class than most developed socialist countries.

I'm curious, how would a huge tax on capital gains hurt the middle class? They don't have money invested in the stock market. Right now, they pay 20-30% of their income in taxes. That wouldn't go up.

All I have to go back to is my experiences and my reality. I'm very interested in others thoughts. The more perspectives I can have in life, the more complete picture I can make for myself and my decisions.

At least you're a proud socialist seems like. The most dangerous are the closet socialists, which are all over the political spectrum.

The tax on capital gains is plain unethical. Especially if we're talking about when you sell property.
