No way batum is going to get 20 mil. I am guessing 12 to 15 mil Most. With a 3 man rotation of hood hayward and batum would get him plenty of minutes. Not to mention it would be fun to see a small ball line up of hood, hayward, batum and lyles.

Rudy Gay would be interesting but he is awful at scoring effectively.

Every team has max money basically. There aren't many good free agents. He will get 20M per... Just book it. He's the kind of guy who fits almost anywhere.

Gay isn't a free agent. Would have to trade for him. No idea if he's available but rumors were he wanted out of Sacramento.

Going to say Jazz will not make any big splashes in free agency. We could see a Whithy type of signing but nothing more, and that is a good thing in my opinion. I like the way this team is built, and want to see how they fair as a team next year as constructed.

If by glue guy, you mean glued to the bench, then yes, Ingles can stay.

The problem the Jazz need to think about is they have 3 guys who have had repeated and even chronic injury problems in Favors, Burks and Hood. And add in Hayward and Gobert also missing significant time. I'm most concerned about Derrick. Back problems have ended many careers. Trey looks like a keeper, but Utah needs to add a skilled C/PF type who can score. There is just too much risk with Gobert and Favors missing time. Whithey is not the answer if you have to plug him in for 20 mins/per if one of them goes down. I'm also assuming in this equation that Booker is NOT re-signed. Love his energy, but he can't shoot.

Jazz need to draft/sign a big and a SF. I'd say PG, but that isn't going to happen. Gay is certainly intriguing depending on how much he wants and for how many years.

If I had to guess, we keep everyone on the roster we now currently have besides Booker.

I don't think Booker re-signs, so we might go out and sign some kind of PF (if we don't use our 1st round pick on one).
Other than that, our roster is mostly full, especially if we sign any of our 2nd round picks. We could make more space by cutting Withey (dont see why we would) or CJ (I could see that happening given the fact he has fallen out of the rotation and has generally been awful this year after showing promise last year).

So if we cut CJ, I could see us picking up a wing in FA (if we don't draft one). I'd rather draft one though. Given our current spot in the draft and what Mocks are projecting, Korkmaz would be great and I really like LaVert (I think LaVert will be next year's Josh Richardson) in the 2nd round.

SA has always added key players. LMA is a prime example this season.
GS made some good trades such as Bogut, Iggy.
Cleveland? Ummm, LBJ
Atlanta? Millsap, DMC, Korver, etc.
Miami? LBJ and Bosh

Go back and look at all the previous 15 years of NBA championships. Nearly all made significant FA signings. SA was the team that developed most of their players. They primarily strengthened their bench with FA's. But you also have to factor in trades. Lakers with Gasol, for example. Lindsey has pretty much used only the draft. Mack is their only "big" trade lately. Of course there's the Favors/DWill trade under KOC. And Booker is the "big" free agent deal.

Jazz don't need to add a superstar (well, they're not going to get one). But they DO need to upgrade. Ingles, Johnson, Booker, Withey: all signed as FA's. Jazz can replace a couple of those with better players PLUS add a rookie. I'm not a drama queen. I'm saying EVERY team has injuries. Ingles and Johnson have both played significant minutes. Wouldn't it be nice to not have such a drop-off when one of Burks/Hayward/Hood goes out next year? Because the odds are one or two will. And what if Gobert or Favors misses games. Its going to be difficult to upgrade any of those players.

Booker: Whoever we sign to replace Booker is going to be behind Lyles in the depth chart. So trying to find a player better than Booker who is willing to get DNP-CDs because he is the 3rd PF. Only way that is going to happen is if you overpay for someone who will probably hardly play. We are going to have to draft another PF or sign a cheap guy who is willing to bench ride. If the Jazz follow suit, they will find an under the radar guy in his mid 20's, either out of the D-League or barely hanging on in the league.

Ingles/Johnson: Yes, this is probably where we do actually need an upgrade, but again, if we draft someone like Korkmaz, do we really want to sign a FA who is going to want playing time? Signing a Batum would be stupid. You can't play 4 wings that good enough minutes to justify the cost. Batum is also super redundant to what we have so the benefit of signing him for so much money wouldn't be optimal. Ingles is going to be on the team next year though. If I had to guess, we draft someone to take CJ's place, but if we don't, then we will probably just find another player like we found Johnson/Millsap and sign them to a cheap non-guaranteed deal.

Withey: Are you serious? Upgrade Withey? He has been perfect in his role. The price we are paying for him is about as good as you can get. Good luck finding a center under 10 million dollars who can provide the defensive safety net he gives us.

Let's look at these teams.

1. Spurs drafted TD Parker, and Ginobili win many championships. Sign LMA while being very good.

2. Drafted Curry, Thompson, Green, Barns trade for Bogut and AI past their primes. As far as I know, no big splashes in free agency.

3. Atlanta signs Sap and DMC. They are a good team not title contenders. They snuck up on teams last year, but even then, not title contenders.

You sound like a drama queen to me. The one team that made a big splash in free agency isn't a contender. The Spurs were in a position where they could spend money being an older vet team already contending with their big three probably on their last contracts. Jazz are still learning to win and working on keeping their core.

Jazz draft well make a key trade to load up on talent. If Exum works out we will be title contenders.
