2016 Draft Workouts!

Jazz have a workout on Saturday.

I wouldn't mind us drafting Pope in the second and developing him in the D-League. I expected him to be a lottery pick before this season started, but he seemed to have taken a step back. Although... he kind of finished the year strong. All the physical tools in the world, had some extremely good flashes, but just can't seem to put it all together. 6'10'' SF, with 9'1'' standing reach and 7'2'' wingspan, also has a smooth shot and some offensive skills as well as good potential with his length on D.

Look at this and tell me it doesn't excite you(if only most of his film looked like that):

Pope has back-up big potential. I'd like to see more motor, more steals, more blocks and more rebounds. He's got nice size and shooting touch, but he won't be able to coast as a pro. He's going to have to shift to become an energy player.

Now it begins. One of the reasons that it pays to do so many workouts is that it obscures who you're actually looking at seriously with a lottery pick. Jazz should have plenty of options and opportunities to throw some smokescreens out there while still getting a good, up-close look at some guys they're legitimately considering.

His agent saw your post and now he is only working out for top 5 teams.

You jest, but his floor is an excellent perimeter defender who can shoot well. That's his floor. He's 20, athletic, and can get to the lane well. He needs to improve his ball handling (which is difficult for sure), and his decision making. Still, he's just a youngin.

He got into the lane and finished terribly. Pedestrian assist numbers given the quality of shooting and size he had on his team. I think his ceiling is George Hill.

I've compared him exactly to George Hill as his top-level NBA comp. It's hard for me to see him as a playmaker, but he can be a good 3 and D PG.
