My gut tells me he will walk (money matters more to him than winning) which is why it's critical we see players like Exum, Hood, Lyles, really step up their games this season.

Why wouldn't he stay if money matters more and Jazz can pay him the most?

May not mean anything, but in the one game we have beaten the Dubs over the past 2 years, Exum had the highest plus minus on the team: Jazz were plus 19 in that game with Exum on the floor. Dubs were at full strength.

I don't like +\- for individual players in small samples, but it's obvious Dante's defense on Curry was a huge contributor to that blowout win.

The potential to be a tall Tony Parker w/ elite defensive ability is there. Tell me why he couldn't.

I see somebody who has the potential ability to get anywhere they want on the court. The potential to make the right decision once they have beaten their man. Yes, yes Tony may be one of the craftiest finishers of all time with a signature floater and hesitation and incredible body control and use of his body to shield defenders. This is an aspect Exum hasn't touched, but he can. The thing about Exum is he doesn't necessarily have to have the same incredible craftiness around the basket to have the same impact since he is 6'6. He can use his length to stretch out and get a high floater off the glass up.

I'm ready to be shut down, I know comparing a guy who hasn't proven anything to an all-time great is a recipe for getting burned. I'm just very optimistic about his development. I do think at worse he is a starting PG in this league.

In the fourth quarter of the Clippers game, Exum and Austin Rivers played the whole way through. At about 2 minutes in, Exum shuts Rivers down on a couple of consecutive possessions, then gets a little heady and starts to drive on Rivers, possibly to show him up. Everytime he gets the ball, he plays with Rivers, drawing him out so he can blow by him. At the same time, Rivers almost quits trying to do anything on his drive on the offensive end when defended by Exum. At one point Exum takes the ball high above the three point line on the left and starts fancy dribbling, seemingly calling Rivers out. Rivers goes out, Exum turns him around and goes toward the basket I believe bounce passing the assist to a cutter. It was nasty.

Seriously, it is the first time I saw any sort of chip on Exum's shoulder, and it was a beautiful thing to behold. Obviously, Exum needs to set his sites higher than Austin Rivers, but the fact that he realized that a fellow NBA player was no match for him and he could impose his will was like watching one of my children take his first baby steps. In order to succeed like we want him to succeed, he is going to need a bit of nasty. Tonight was the first time I actually saw him bring it. It was also nice to see Snyder recognize what was going on and continue to let Dante do his thing.

Sure. If handles also means footwork, hesitation, spins, etc. then yeah that's what makes Tony Parker special. This is stuff than can be developed, the raw skill is there.

sigh, the definition of "elite". I think that in order to merit that distinction, you need to have done it for much much longer that Exum. He definitely shows elite potential, though. But he also makes plenty of mistakes.

In my opinion Hayward will opt out too. Anyway I would be ok if the Jazz build the team around Gobert, Hood, Exum and Lyles. Hopefully we can resign Favors too.

The Jazz did all their best to make Hayward happy, now he has to show some gratitude at least not opting out at the end of this season.
