What's new

remember when our offense looked like this?

People keep saying this, but are ill-informed. I finally found the metrics measuring this via stats.nba.com .. Jazz take the 4th most "very-tight" contested shots in the league, and take the 7th fewest "wide open" shots in the league. hardly a ****TON

Not to mention, the shots we get that are open are often long two's not the three's and paint shots a good offense in today's NBA should create.

I am a huge fan of quin snyder, but the offense can be so hard to watch....I know that has a lot to do with injuries and some horrid PG Play up until we got Hill....but still it makes it so hard to play and I feel like whenever I go to a home game the crowd can't get into it as much as they want to because of the offensive struggles

I don't want to sound pesty but your post made me wonder how can anyone be a huge fan of a coach who installs an offensive system that is really hard to watch? I would get it if you were a "fan" or a "fan with some reservations" - which is my case -, but a "huge fan"? To me, Snyder sounds smart, articulate and reasonable, but there is something wrong in the offense that he installed. What makes it even more frustrating to me is that I can't really put my finger on it. Of course the percentage of baskets that are assisted is really low but it is not like the team is not passing the ball out there. It seems, though, that most of the passes don't lead anywhere... Well, I'm really frustrated and just venting.

By the way, I think Snyder should hire an offensive coordinator. What you guys think?

The concerning thing to me was when he joined the organization how highly he was praised as an offensive mastermind. He had dissertations on offensive schemes and was supposed to be revolutionary.

It starts to feel like when you BS on a resume because you're a smooth talker, and sort of fly by the seat of your pants when you get the job

We have a couple bigs that are decent passers but nowhere near Karl. We've been rolling with pg's for years that would struggle running a pick n roll at the rec center. Hill is vital to this offense its been pretty obvious as of late. I would like to watch a vintage Jerry offense with Mack running the show maybe he could make it work since he's one of the best but I'm doubtful.

Snyder seems a good talker. I think it was a mistake to give him a long-term contract extension at the end of the last season. He had to earn such a long contract with the results.

It seems there is a small hesitation on every move we make. Whether it's coming around a screen or passing it off to another player, the players do not have enough trust in our system to move on to the next action. We're half a second too late in our reaction to reading the defense. It's hard to explain, but after watching other teams on league pass it's noticeable. Watch how quickly Reddick curls around a screen by Griffin while trying to find space. Our offense has no quick momentum like that, it's always stagnant and ends up with a shot off the dribble.

jerry's system, as grinding and stagnant as you remember it, produced an above league average oRtg a whopping 20 times in his 23 seasons.

Big whoop. This team doesn't have a top 20 player in the NBA. Sloan had 2 top 20 players of all time.
