WIll a jazz player get into the all star game?

Hayward may get in ahead of Klay Thompson if Thompson is struggling.

Gobert is competing against Gasol, Draymond, Cousins and Towns.

AFAIK, the all-star team consist of 12 players, 5 backcourt and 7 frontcourt players.

In the west, I'd imagine the following are locks:
Frontcourt:
Kevin Durant
Kawhi Leonard
Anthony Davis
Marc Gasol

Backcourt:
Russell Westbrook
James Harden
Steph Curry (will not start, probably)

Very likely:
Frontcourt:
Not that many, really.

Backcourt:
Chris Paul
Damien Lillard
Klay Thompson
(only two can make it)

I'd say there are three frontcourt spots up for grabs. Candidates should be: Draymond Green, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMarcus Cousins, Karl Towns, Blake Griffin. Gordon and Rudy will have to beat at least a few of those guys. I don't see both making it, but they might both deserve it. They do look at winning record, after all. Towns and Cousins should struggle there.

(Edit: Added Klay.)

If the Jazz stay on winning roll, I believe every head coach will vote for a Jazzman. But I also believe that no head coach will vote for two Jazzmen. Since both Rudy and Gordon are on a similar impact level, is it possible that they split the vote and neither get chosen? (7-7 or 6-8?). I'm not sure how many votes it takes to make the team on a typical year. And are "wildcard" votes counted the same as "bench" votes?

Has gobert in and Hayward as close but no cigar.
That's what I think will happen too

It had them both making the team.

Western conference starters:
Chris Paul
James Harden
Kawhi Leonard
Kevin Durant
Draymond Green

Bench:
Russell Westbrook
Stephen Curry
Marc Gasol
Rudy Gobert
DeMarcus Cousins

Wild cards:
Anthony Davis
Gordon Hayward

Oh I thought wildcard meant that they were the snubs.

Yeah, it is a bit confusing. Coaches must vote for 3 bigs, 2 guards, and 2 "wild cards" that can be anyone.
I didn't know that, and had been wondering how it worked. Thanks for the info.

Gobert has just as much competition. Hayward should make it, and Jazz fans should be hoping he does.

Yeah, but Gobert has had dominant games against pretty much all the best centers, including the guys who would go ahead of him. If only one of them makes it, I think the coaches take Gobert over Hayward.
