WIll a jazz player get into the all star game?

Yeah, but Gobert has had dominant games against pretty much all the best centers, including the guys who would go ahead of him. If only one of them makes it, I think the coaches take Gobert over Hayward.

Head-to-head performance may be a minor factor, especially for coaches who saw their star big get shut down.

Last year Cousins was the closest thing to a rim protector on the West.

Gonna be interesting.

I think Hayward is in and Gobert is out, but that just a hunch.

I also think Rudy is the single biggest impact player on the defensive end in the league, and has a great shot at DPOY. He's the best rim protector and also leads the league in fg%. He's top 3 at his position. I think Rudy not making it would be a crime.

If the Jazz stay on winning roll, I believe every head coach will vote for a Jazzman. But I also believe that no head coach will vote for two Jazzmen. Since both Rudy and Gordon are on a similar impact level, is it possible that they split the vote and neither get chosen? (7-7 or 6-8?). I'm not sure how many votes it takes to make the team on a typical year. And are "wildcard" votes counted the same as "bench" votes?

Good point but I think they'll vote for Hayward although they're well aware Gobert is the cornerstone of this team. I mean take Hayward out and this team still wins a lot of games but take Gobert out it free falls to average.. Hayward is more suited for the ASG and Gobert for the DPOY, at least this year.

It had them both making the team.

Western conference starters:
Chris Paul
James Harden
Kawhi Leonard
Kevin Durant
Draymond Green

Bench:
Russell Westbrook
Stephen Curry
Marc Gasol
Rudy Gobert
DeMarcus Cousins

Wild cards:
Anthony Davis
Gordon Hayward

I'd worry about McCollum, Towns, and Deandre.

i want him to get snubbed for dpoy. it will piss him off. and next year jazz will hold opposing teams to 50ppg

I'd love it if gobert made it and cousins missed out, it would make for a great matchup next time we play them. But cousins seems to be very highly regarded around the league despite his attitude so I can't see that happening.

i think Gobert is in

Hayward snubbed

Will piss off Hayward who will take his talents to Boston

Pretty awesome we're even having this conversation. We have 2 all stars for sure.

I'm sorta thinking the same thing. Opposing coaches have to change their "normal" game plan when playing Utah because of Gobert. He is the one player on the team that is a game changer and coaches know this.

I don't know. Point matter, a lot. And Hayward is currently 20th in the NBA and 10th in the West in points per game. Combine that with his stats in assists and rebounds, his deserved reputation for being well rounded, and for being the team leader, and I think coaches might well select Hayward over Gobert.

I think they should but doubt they will. Hayward stats are to good.

Gobert is a top 15 player now an Hayward a top 20.
