We should take Kanter with the 6

I would also consider Knight.

While I'm not a huge fan of taking a PG so high, I do believe his speed and quickness could create matchup problems. And we've all seen what speedy quick PGs can do in this league with guys like Ty Lawson, Tony Parker, Barera, Rondo, Westbrook, Wall, Jennings, CP3, and Rose.

I think a backcourt of Harris/Knight and Hayward could be a potent offensive backcourt.

Knight isn't that quick. I'm with your original inkling to not draft a PG top ten.

And regarding the Kanter thread and your question "how do we know he isn't Oden?" um, no one knew Oden was Oden. Dude - it's all guesswork. But the risks you point out are definitely of prime importance. That's why Kanter is such risk/reward prospect. It's a pretty nice reward, and if he'd played college ball like you wish he had then there might be no risk. Which might make him the number 1 pick and we wouldn't even have the chance to take the gamble.

The unknowns that scare some GMs away are where you can cash in on their fears. Ex: Paul Millsap. He had insane rebounding numbers for 3 years in college. But he was undersized. Risk/Reward. Of course, him being in the second round makes it a pretty minor risk as opposed to the 6th pick.

Sorry to get all remedial on you - I just keep hearing you naysay prospects based on unknowns.

I'm really not sure. Who's even entering the draft? I know of two of the best players, Kemba and Sullinger, have "said" that they'd like to come back to school. Yet, that's a far cry from saying, "I'm not declaring for the NBA draft."

I'm not at all saying that we SHOULDN'T draft Kanter.

However, I think a big who we've never actually seen play, hasn't played a game in college, has a history of leg injuries, and whose athleticism is doubted, is an extremely risky pick.

I guess I'll take a stab at answering your question (even though I really don't know who we should take), I'd suggest we take the best ATHLETE available if there isn't really a clear best player available. Someone like Alec Burks or someone from Kentucky or UNC (they're all great athletes lol)

I guess this is why we drafted Kirk Snyder. Kevin Love is not a great athlete. Are you suggesting he should have not been drafted in the top 10. My current town of Memphis i guess thought trading for the better athlete was a good idea. (ok to really moan they could also have had Tyreke Evans if they did not go wacky.)

Kanter easily could be the "next" Gasol.

But how do we know he isn't Darko? Wasn't Darko effective in the euroleague too? Have any of us actually seen Kanter play? Or just his highlight video from ONE game?

What about his knees? I've read scouting reports indicating that he's not very athletic.

While I think Calipari generally recruits top talent (Rose, Wall, Cousins, Knight, etc), I think Kanter is an extremely risky pick. How do we know that this guy is Gasol? How do we know he isn't Darko or Oden? I just wish he had been able to play this year in college so that we all could have seen his game, competitiveness, athleticism, and durability.

i have seen him play, in euroleague and turkish league, but he was too young, he was just 16 , so he didnt get many mins. But its already a miracle for anyone who is 16 to participate in such competitions. Another example i can remember of is Rubio, he was 16 when he played in important platforms.
And enes was dominating his ages in those youth championships in europe.

So dont have any suspicion on his potential, but the thing with knee, we can never know. It may be a risk, but risk is a part of this game. There is no better player who may fall to 6 in this draft. Only other players to match his potential are Irving and Barnes.

I see other guys as a maximum allstar level, but these 3 has potential to be superstar. We will all see how things will go. But if he stays healthy, he will be much more valuable than jefferson, thats one certain thing.

With hayward and favors, i think brandon knight will be a perfect addition to our young core. But he may eventually fall to 8-9. So i think, we should do everythng to move up to get him with our 12 th pick, but get another, a better piece in 6th. That would make us much better

I've come to this conclusion recently. If the Jazz don't end up with Barnes, Dwill2,Irving, Kanter then draft Perry Jones. With the 12th pick if Walker,Knight,Burks,T Jones and Donatas/Valuncias/Vessely aren't available trade down and get 2 later picks

He is not Gasol... 2 inches shorter right off the bat
