1) The 3 point line is 22' at the baseline, measured dead center of the basket. There is a perpendicular line from the baseline that runs out to the point where a 3 pointer measures 23'9". From this point, a 23'9" radius measures the line until it meets with a nother 14' perpendicular line on the opposite side of the court. How far into the court is the center of the basket?

2). Using the same measurement as a 3 pointer (from the center of the basket), how far is a free throw.

3) The radius of the restricted area is 4' from the center of the rim. The radius of the circle from the center of the free throw line is 6'. What is the shortest distance between the restricted area circle and the free throw line circle.
 
If you bounce a skip pass off a skillet at the free throw line, what's the maximum vertical height it must reach to be able to land in Gobert's hands at chest level when he begins to elevate for a dunk from the restricted area?

I just looked it up on this new thing called "Google"...pretty nifty.

1. I don't quite understand this question. But if you're asking where the center of the hoop is in relation to the perimeter of the court (out of bounds lines), then: Center of Hoop is 4'-9" from the baseline, and 25' from either sideline.
2. Distance from center of hoop to the free throw line is 14'-3". (19' - 4' -9" = 14'-3")
3. Minimum distance between restricted area line and FT circle is 4'-3" (19' - 4' - 9" - 4' - 6' = 4'-3")

1 an 2 are correct, tho you kinda failed the challenge by cheating. 3 is wrong.

Explain how #3 is wrong. Arent you asking what the distance is between the top of the resticted circle (the point closest to the FT line) and the bottom of the FT line circle (the point on the dashed FT line circle closest to the baseline)? If so, 4'-3" is correct.

And how did I "cheat"? Wtf.

Your math is wrong for starters 19 - 4.75 - 4.5 does not = 4.25.
Only 2 of your inputs were correct and you left out the fourth.

LOL. This is your quiz and you don't even know what the hell you're talking about. You didn't stipulate that this problem was supposed to be solved using fake/alternative math.

Let's start over...base everything as a distance from the baseline
Top of restricted line from the baseline = 4' + 9" + 4' = 8'-9"
Bottom of the FT circle from the baseline = 19' - 6' = 13'
Now take the difference between the two (using REAL math):
13' subtract 8'-9" = 4'-3"

You are so close it hurts. My vasoline bottle has been lathering up for hours now waiting for you to finish me off.
 
I did the math for #1.

x^2 + Y^2 = R^2
X= 22
R= 23.9

Solve for Y. Y is about 9.33
Then subtract that number from 14 and you have 4.66.

So, I'm pretty pleased with myself for figuring this out. I once spent days trying to figure out a question about a goat tied to a circular fence with no luck. Glad to finally get one I could handle.
