SBNation - Kevin Durant's injury shows why other NBA contenders should never give up

This should be moved to the Jazz forum. Interested to hear how folks think they stack up against a KD-less Warriors squad..

He'll be back in a few weeks.

I guess we'll probably play them with Durrant. Will it matter? Only a little.

I've read 1st round playoffs. Maybe. I think them losing Durant increases everyone's chances against them.

What a dumb way to put it. Like he was injured because he was jinxed by the bad karma after leaving OKC and joining with the Warriors.

"There is only one certain thing in the NBA: Nothing is certain."

Well thank you captain obvious. You've saved the day once again.

Durant's decision was romantically bad. But it was the right move business and career-wise. But he could stay in OKC and run for championship easily in there too. Just a few steps away from championship, that road is. I do not blame him for leaving his team and joining the enemy, I wouldn't do that if I were him, but I do not blame him.

He's a big, hairy, *****, no doubt. I don't hate him, but I now have zero respect for him and consider him to be the biggest gutless wonder the NBA has ever seen. Oh, and I hate him.

How about LBJ leaving Cleveland for Miami?
If you hate Durant, you have to hate any player who has left their original team. Westbrook is a ball hog. Though both deny any bad blood, the two probably couldn't co-exist. Durant was a FA and free to choose his employer.
What Carlos Boozer did was far worse. But we gladly welcomed him here, ethics notwithstanding.

It was indeed a bitch move and strikes me as a immature kid desperately wanting to be a part of the cool kids group with Draymond easily manipulating him into the decision. Reports from people that know him are he's pretty insecure which would make manipulating him pretty easy. It's speculation obviously, but what's not up for debate is leaving OKC for San Fran was weak. Period.

I am far more optimistic about our chances of getting to the west finals and losing to San Antonio there now. And by far more optimistic, I mean I think there is a slim chance we get Boris to creep out Draymond enough to push the series to 7 games.

Err'body hates LeBaron. But he is an all time great, and came back to Cleveland. I don't see KD doing either of those.

Talent-wise Durant is not too far away from Lebron James as a stud of the league. Just not achieved as much. But at the same time, James had Cleveland as his home, whereas Durant has a lot of ties with Oklahoma City including community investments. So I can say that their tie is more than just basketball, and being the emotional guy Durant is, if things stops getting more and more sour after the famous "Alley Oop" in the All Star Game between Durant and Westbrook, I always will smell the chance of Durant coming back to OKC after one or more championship experiences in Golden State then coming back to clean up his crap.

Well, Lebron didn't go to a team that just beat him in playoff after losing 3-1. He also didn't go to a team where he would be the 2nd best player.

And I'd boo the ever loving **** out of him if I was a OKC fan when he comes back. It was so weak it's hard to wrap my mind around it. He was set up to win big in OKC and it wasn't good enough. It's a complete joke.

LeBron was a one man show and it was evident his organization at the time had no idea how to construct a team. LeBron leaving was egregious in a few aspects but in my opinion somewhat a little more understandable. Just my opinion though.

Many Thunder fans didn't like KD's method in which he exited OKC. His LeBron James' dramatics was an early indication that he wasn't sticking with the Thunder.

Durant has never possessed true leadership qualities like Westbrook; Russell let Durant think he was the man. Kevin wanted to lead by committee.

We (OKC fans) wish him the best in his recovery. His decision to leave OKC was his call. IF Durant had been more aggressive like you see exhibited by Westwolf's energy; Thunder would have played in the finals when they had GSW down 3 - 1.

Durant has always been venerable (fragile) below the knees.
