No kidding! Shaq makes everyone - everyone - look small and always did. And they were small compared to him and he used that bulk and size to tremendous advantage.
Favors looked small guarding bynum last week, so no, he is no shaq. Another pre-injury McDyess would be great.
I revisited the interview. I'm a little more positive now. Also, great comments.

A scout said "A human rocket. Huge upside, understand defensive concepts at an early age. Offense needs to improve"

Locke- Who is Favors physcially equivalent to in comparison to other players you've looked at?
Givony- "Antonio McDyess in his prime... Before his knee injuries. I don't want to say Dwight Howard cause that puts a little too much pressure on the guy..." He went on to explain this was exciting because the toughest position to find is the big man, and Favors does it perfectly. People say PG is the toughest, but the NBA is saturated with PG's.
then Givony goes on to say that this years draft really sucks!

I've heard everything from Tyrus Thomas(who had incredible upside but was raw) to Shawn Kemp(amazing finishing ability at the hoop). I think he'll be a mix of those two. I don't think he'll ever be a dominate scorer like Kemp, he's got a long ways to go offensively, but he will be a solid all around player with great ability to score around the rim.
or maybe he will become kemp i don't know, you look at the rookie numbers side by side and they are almost identical. and favors is 19, kemp was 20. of course kemp's game was more based on quickness/speed, i don't know if i've seen favors speed displayed much.

Kemp was never a dominant scorer. He has always been too foul prone to stay on the floor.

He wasn't consistently a dominant scorer because - in his prime - he didn't look to be one, but he was still one of the most effective offensive PF's in the league.
Not Shaq. Favors' body, leaping, and athleticism reminds me of Roy Tarpley. Had Tarpley stayed clean, he might have been an all star, multiple times. He played Karl Malone better than anyone early in Malone's career because Tarpley was just as strong, just as fast, but taller. That's who Favors reminds me of.

I'm not sure if the Antonio or Amare comparisons hold much water. Neither seem to have much of a back to the basket game.
