So I heard something on FirstTake that I found interesting. This guy was talking about Chris Paul, and how his chance of winning a title is dwindling, he he mentioned a theory that's quite interesting, that the championship winning combination in the NBA is more 'Wing + Center' combination rather than the 'Point Guard + Forward' combination.
He also referenced the fact that Stockton & Malone couldn't get it done because it was a 'Point Guard + Forward' combination rather than a 'Wing + Center' combination. Arguing that Stockton was as good as PG you were ever going to get and Malone was as good a power forward you're ever going to get.
What do you guys think about this theory?
Obviously we now have the 'Wing + Center' combination in Hayward and Gobert - so I guess we're on the right track, right?
Thoughts?
Edit: Here's the video, go to the 14.50min mark for the comments about winning combinations.
