What's new

Interesting stats for the year

Completely agree, but the big thing is summer coaching. I'll pretty much lose all faith in him if he goes back to New York and lifts weights with Ray Rice and shoots a bunch of shots. That's foolish.

If CJ has really matured, then he's spending his own money this summer to work with a pro trainer. Someone who will go over his whole game and work him out in a structured program.

If I'm KOC, I'll know what I'm doing with CJ based on the decisions he makes. If he goes off to New York to be with his friends and workout, I'm trading him. If he really goes searching for coaching and changes his whole program, I'm hanging on to him.

CJ said inhis interview with Locke that he wants to slim down this next summer and come in a bit lighter next year so he could "fly around the court" like before or something.

If he's doing that working with somebody like Tim Grover at ATTACK, I'm excited. If he's doing that making up his own workout program with Ray Rice, then he will have proven to me he's incapable of being a professional.

5 interesting team stats for me:

1. Fewest assists per game (as well as points per game) since last non-playoff season: 2005-06.

2. Franchise record for 3pt attempts in a season - 15.3 per game. (CJ Miles also broke Memo's single-season record for 3pt attempts)

3. Allowed opponents to score 30 points or more in a quarter 77 times. Last year (w/the Memo/Boozer frontcourt) only allowed 62 30+ quarters.

4. 24 bench points per game - between 2007 and 2010 bench production was 31.6, 35.0, 30.2, and 31.7 respectively.

5. Despite blocking 84 more shots and playing at a slower pace, actually allowed more points in the paint in 2010-11 than in 2009-10.

Agreed. He needs a serious shooting coach. I hope and trust he will be given good advice along those lines. Booner the other day said that CJ does not have a consistent follow-through, so there is maybe a specific detail to work on. I did like the idea of him slimming down a bit. Strength is nice, but basketball is a game of running and jumping, not sumo wrestling, at least for a wing.

A long those lines Horny said something similar and coaches tell him this but they can't exclusively sit and watch and be there every shot and it is something he needs to be conscious of when he is shooting/practicing on his own.
