CJ would be very valuable if he could correct one thing: his shooting percentage. He needs to work at that all summer and skip the weights. He is big enough now. Just think how useful he would be if he shot say 44% overall and 38% from the 3? He has shown that he has quite a knack for getting off "good" shots, just too many do not go in. When did the Jazz last have a wing (outside of Hayward) who could create like CJ? A long time. He also needs some sort of personal strategy coach to help him with shot selection. Booner the other day was talking how much his stats would improve if he got one more layup per game. And one fewer 3 taken and missed would be a big help.
I say give him that as a summer project and one more year. He is cheap, and he is still young. If he was 6 years in and 28-29, then yes he has reached his limit. At his still young age, not so much. I know the frustration and I realize that he MUST shoot better. If he is on the team next year and the improvement is not there, limit his minutes and tell him to shoot less. He would be an acceptable backup for one year as we build around Favors and Hayward.
