"The Jazz are bound to shoot [Milos] Teodosic an offer sheet."

I don't think so. Wouldn't the maximum allowable change from year-to-year be 4.5%? See https://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q55

Assuming I've got that right, I ran some numbers. The Jazz could do something like this:

$7m
$6.685m
$6.37m
$6.055m

=$26.11m total, which is effectively $8.703/year for three years, but the cap hit would be in the $6 million range.

I'm not completely sure this is allowed though; it seems like paying him $7 million for last year is probably against some rule.

OK I have to confess that this draft has more talent in the second round than any other draft I can remember. I wouldn't be surprised if someone draft in the second round this year plays on an all star team.

It looks like that actually CAN be done if you sign a player before the last game of the regular season, see https://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q29
"With the exception of minimum-salary contracts, salaries do not pro-rate during the season."

But a lot of the language used there says things like "last day of the regular season", so I'm not sure if that can still be done all the way through Jul 1. Maybe.

That contract looks pretty good to me too. I think we all understand the gist of it now. It's up to DL to figure out the numbers.

Locke mentioned it... so who knows. He may have heard it from someone. I think it might be valid... if it was other teams below the cap could do it as well.
