Zach Lowe: Paul George would love to play with Gordon Hayward

Why you want to give Hood when we can get rid of Burks or Exum? Hood is way more valuable.

Burks hurts a trade. I don't think we could get a team in the NBA to simply take Burks. His contract and injury history make him less of an asset and more of a liability.

I would rather have Exum than Hood. I would like to keep both, but I just don't see Indy wanting just Favors, #24 and #30 for George. They can get better. To me, Exum seems like he has more potential. Most importantly, I think he has elite level potential with his size and athleticism. The best teams have specialists and I just don't see Hood having as many as Exum. And lastly, I think Hood has more trade value right now than Exum.

I'm not so sure. Indy has very little to no leverage. Most teams have no shot at retaining George after this year. If Indy waits he leaves and they get nothing. All of that will drive down his price. Indy is the desperate team here.

Not saying Utah gets him but his camp tanked his price and hosed the Indy FO hard.

You make a good point. Indy isn't getting a lottery pick and a starter for George unless it's the Lakers doing the trading and it's a future unprotected pick.

Favors scratches off two boxes for them - starter and expiring. #24 and our pick for next year scratches off the 2 1st rounders. If we throw in Diaw, Indy gets even more savings. I just find it very, very hard to believe that Favors, Diaw, #24 and our 2018 1st has more value to Indy than Love does. Seems like Love would get them more another 3rd team. But I could be wrong.

Indy gets Favors, Diaw, #24, 2018 Utah 1st and one of our 2nd rounders
Cleveland gets George (an assumed one year rental)
Utah gets Love

Maybe it happens...

I want Lyles in the deal too... in part so I can feel like we got something good for him.

I think we are the most logical destination for Love... it works...

Now with the rumors that Boston is getting Jimmy Butler I think we should do something bold. If I'm hayward I'd rather play with Love and Gobert than Butler and IT, but who knows.

I'm not sure Butler is a bonus to Hayward. He is another ball dominant guy and I hear he's not the best teammate in the world. Maybe I'm wrong, but I view JB and PG differently.

You have to be bold to get a star. While it's risky, bringing back PG13 is well worth that risk. If the Jazz could pull that off, they'd become media darlings. Gobert, PG13, Hayward and Hill is a helluva starting point for the team. Offer Favors, Burks, both 2018 first round picks and maybe either Trey Lyles or another future lottery protected pick if you have to. Use part of the MLE or trade Diaw's non-guaranteed contract to get the best PF you can afford to replace Favors. Draft Semi Ojeleye, Jordan Bell and at least one more guy for depth.

I get why we're trying to shed the likes of Favors and Lyles in some of these scenarios. But I don't get why Indiana would want them. Aside from Turner, their only other reliable starter right now is a PF. Lyles is the only one that helps in a complete go-young rebuild, but he's also the one that could be out of the NBA in a couple years.
