IDK how much of this plays a factor in these things, but I bet it does to some extent (bonuses for playing in specific markets and such): Paul George just put out his signature shoe this past year. Do you really think the Nike reps he works with want him anywhere but LA?
I bet that they want him in the finals instead of Curry and his under armour contract. I think in this day and age winning is the most important thing for endorsements. Market is huge too but I think it is secondary. If you can have both that's great but being a winner that is playimg on TV in the summer is the most important thing.
