What's new

Paul George will sign extension with the Celtics...only if Hayward signs too

I wonder if this will happen.

There is another thread talking about this... Woj tweeted it... which means it is legit being discussed. I'm sad.

Rumor of what Boston is offering for PG13

From Andy Kaufman

To clarify any confusion, that's LAL/SAC pick from PHI + '19 MEM OR LAC pick + Jae Crowder + $$ filler. #Celtics

So from what I can tell that LAL/Sac pick is some weird protection where they only get it if LAL land between #2 and #5 pick other wise it becomes the 19' Sac pick with #1 protection. So that could be a good pick unless Sac gets better by then. The other pick will probable not be great unless LAC blow things up. I still think the Jazz can beat that offer or at least get close enough that Indiana will take the deal now instead of taking a chance on Boston getting Hayward.

With the lowered cap wont Boston have to dump another player to have enough room to sign Hayward?

they will most likely have to get rid of Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart

Horford 28m
Hayward 30m
PG3 20m
IT 7m
Brown 5m

No idea what Indy wants. I would assume so but I think Boston is going to have to dump players before getting Hayward. That is before they will trade for PG.
Cant Boston get Hayward at max by simply renouncing all restricted free agents like Olynyk?

If they have to dump somebody AND Hayward is definitely going there, I would sign and trade Bradley for Hayward. But we wouldnt have both..,

The Jazz don't need Bradley, given that they have Hood, Ingles and Mitchell. Plus, Bradley is in the same situation as Hood. He needs to be paid in a year.

He is better than nothing right? IF, big IF, Hayward is going to Boston and Boston has to dump either Bradley or Smart, who do you take? Both are due a pay day in 2018.

I personally take Bradley over Rubio, Hill, Beverley, etc.

I think Bradley would be a solid upgrade to Hood. I want no part of a sign and trade for him though.

Maybe, I dont know what they need to get rid of to have enough room for a max right now with the 99 million cap.

Basically it comes down to this... they would trade for PG hoping he re-signs after a year, unless they trade Horford, which would be an awful look.

Too many dominos for the R&E, but they could get him and say we will roll the dice... it's not a bad gamble. Is LA going to turn it around next year?

Looks like they can sign Hayward to a max if they renounce everybody they can

They still have work to do to sign Hayward even after renouncing KO. Would need to move Smart or Crowder for no salary or tell their 1st round picks from last year they can't come (I don't think they can do that without mutual agreement I think they have to offer them a deal if they want to come or they have to renounce their draft rights) and move Rozier, Mickey.

They have to cut some salary still.

I don't see how. If they renounce everybody, they have $62 + #3 right? http://www.basketballinsiders.com/boston-celtics-team-salary/
