He turned things around long before the playoffs. He had a solid season in Chicago and the staff was very pleased with him. He also did well with his time in Sac town, especially considering the wreck that team was. But yes he did mail it in at the end with Boston and was upset with them, he also mailed it in with Dallas. I would not want him on the team unless he was committed.

But I guess to comment on your original idea. No. That is a waste of time. I would rather just see if Burks can get healthy and play again. If he is back and healthy and plays like he did before than a team will trade from him something of worth. The only reason to do that move is if we had someone we needed to sign and didnt have the cap space to do that. Maybe the Jazz have a target and this would be a good move then, but not now without a target.

If Chicago wants Burks, sure.

But this trade is similar to saying: hey Houston, we have space and a nonguaranteed, will you please let us take Ryan Anderson? C'mon man

It's literally nothing like that. They are most likely going to cut Rondo before July 1st. If they like Burks, they can get Burks for free.

And I completely accept the premise of the Bulls wanting Burks is far-fetched. But who knows? They wanted Kris Dunn after having one of the worst rookie years from a 23 year old lottery pick ever.

The Lopo version of this trade would be Burks and the Jazz 1st rounder for Rajon Rondo and the Bulls unprotected 1st rounder in 2018.

Although how Rubio responds to playoffs is still a question mark since he has never played in them. Rondo has a large edge in experience in the playoffs and winning.

Chicago also loved his leadership, professionalism and mentoring of the young players this year. That fits well with what the Jazz are doing.

I think Hill is a better all around player but his contract amount and the number of years he wants is concerning along with his nagging toe injury that may or may not heal up properly.

1) For shooting, it's better to use TS%. And for reference, Rubio had 2 months under 50%, Rondo had 2 months over 50%.

2) Rubio has been an elite on ball defender for several years now. That's nice that Rondo did well in one series this year. At his age, I'm going to trust the last couple of years for him.

3) If we're going to use a playoff series as a sample size, then post LaVine injury, Rubio shot 42/36/91. He's still only 26. Not improbable that he could be improving his shooting.

Ts% is not a better factor for 3 point shooting nor ability to stretch the floor. Maybe for overall shooting on the court. Rubio sucks at shooting beyond the three point line for his entire career. Maybe that will change going forward but that is a big risk.

Also maybe Rondo goes downhill but outside of two seasons where he wasn't trying he has been one of the best PG defenders for his entire career including this entire season and including the playoffs this year.
 
Additionally my preference of Rondo over Rubio stems from the fact that I believe Exum will be better than either of them this year or within a couple years. Rondo has been touted as a good mentor and I think his age and maturity is more useful than Rubios. Rubio does match up age wise well with the core and maybe could improve with them but I prefer rolling with Exum as our future. I view either as a stop Gap.
 
Let's do Cy's Rondo trade, a Kevin Love trade, and then a Beverly trade.
