Hayward signing outright (reported rumor)

Well apparently I was wrong on how the TPE works too. Idk.

I'd be curious if you still took your stance understanding a TPE. They aren't given. It's just simply when you have a deal that a team takes back significantly less salary, they get an exception for the size of that salary to use in trades. Ainge gives up nothing and collects a second round pick.

A team gets a traded player exception when they trade a player and don't receive any salary back. That's why if we traded Hayward we'd get a TPE.

The people who think the Celtics should have gave us it for free aren't thinking. Ainge isn't going to give away a free asset. Why should he?

Now, if the Jazz offered a 2nd-round pick I don't know why they wouldn't do it. They'd get a 2nd-round pick for nothing.

I take the Occams razor approach to this. We know Ainge is an *******. He probably didn't agree to this for that reason alone.

ABBA made a song many years ago that describes pretty much exactly the situation we find ourselves in with regard to the Celtics and Hayward leaving. You'll have to use you imagination a little, like when she says "building me a fence" you'll have to understand that means Utah Jazz defense. She says "building me a home" that's the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Stuff like that. When she says "Does she kiss you like I used to kiss you?" she's actually talking about Quin vs Stevens. So yeah, you've got to be engaged and Make the proper adjustments, but if you do that you'll see that ABBA prophesied this situation many years ago, because ABBA is supernatural.

See what I'm talking about? They called it. Celtics took it all. Jazz are standing small. Jazz played by the rules. Jazz are losing someone dear. You get it.

It's still an asset by definition. Ainge didn't want to give it up for a 2nd rounder. I'm cool with that. That's his choice. They have a **** ton of draft picks anyways.

ABBA Should just rename the song "The Celtics Take it All"

I'm gonna keep going with this. This **** is perfect. You'll all have to acknowledge it.

Is it valuable to somebody else? Yes. So it's an asset.

It's not his to "give up." At best, he can prevent someone from acquiring an asset. But, to do that, he'd have to forfeit his own acquisition of an asset (a second round pick). Literally the only reason not to do this is to be a straight up douche. The odds of it biting him in the *** would be somewhere in the ballpark of less than 1%.
