See, the dadgum first think ya wanna do is preserve yer soil. Top soil is everthink in farmin. Ya seen them tree lines protecting a orchard? Well they don't work for farmin as good cause the nutrient rich clods formin in the top soil git broken up when ya till. So what good is it protectin from wind when yer destroying yer soil to begin with?
Good farmers use new no till farmin techniques. I work with a farmer that also uses drip irrigation in some his fields. Says he can put fertilizer an pesticides an everthink right in the water an saves him thousands ever year on over application an it is more affective to boot! Spensive ta install but worth it if ya kin ford it.
Other think bout drip irrigation is ya don't waste so much money on diesel fuel pumpin yer water outa tha well. People don't realize how much money that fuel bill costs a farmer there is a reason they have those huge fuel tanks an buy it in bulk.
