That's the case with a lot of players who end up in Europe. Or U.S. nationals working for large corporations who end up working for a number of years outside the U.S. I suspect $ may play a part. If some Euro team offers him a very good salary, he might jump. The pay would be a lot more than an NBA assistant.
The other factor is opportunity. NBA owners have proven to be very close-minded when it comes to coaches. Blatt broke the barrier - briefly. Despite Kokoskov having a lot of experience as an assistant in the NBA, I think he probably still gets lumped in as a "Euro coach."

I don't know if it was smart but it was definitely ballsy as hell!

Agree. Almost any other coach would have stuck with the veteran, NBA starter.
Do you think he'll ever recommend sitting Rudy in favor of Ekpe down the stretch of an NBA game?

This wasn't just a game, this was Euro final. This is the equivalent of sitting your best player in a Finals game 7.
Its not that ballsy guys. He took him out to give him a minute rest then the team started pulling ahead so he stuck with it.
And yes, it happens a lot. Coaches play there stars the whole 4th quarter then they try to find them a minute to sit them for. Usually the team falls apart though and that just didnt happen here.

It was a smart move. Why? Dragic was exhausted from the way he was playing the first three quarters. Then he appeared to injure himself or the announcer said it looked like a cramp, and after that he starting shooting air balls. He was either slightly injured or tired, or a combination. But as Slovenia then scored four straight points and was able to increase the lead, he never had to put him back in.
Were you among those arguing for Corbin not making any substitutions in the Atlanta triple-OT game because it's too risky?
