I've always said one thing about anyone who holds a debt against someone else... You have to be able to collect.

I'm not saying this as a joke. No one on this planet can enforce their claim against the U.S.. No one can collect the credit they extended to the U.S.. The U.S. pays because it's in the United State's interest to pay. As soon as that changes the U.S. will say to our lenders "Come and get your money." No one can make us pay. No one. Not China, not even close.

All those sayings like you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip don't apply here. This commonly held sentiment is actually a gross misunderstanding of macro econ and the Current Account (balance of trade).

During the days of Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations we finally realized wealth is in the production and services a nation has to offer. Fiat and debt are backed by that alone and not by some nominal face value or military might. America is the most productive country in both total output and per capita.

We've actually been been begging China to dump there treasury holdings of US debt. The result would be massive export increases at home, more jobs than we would want, huge inflationary pressure at home, sharp increases in interest rates, large wage increases, a weakening of the dollar on the exchange, and a lowering of the national debt increase (in a vacuum not counting on congress changing in response).

The bottom line is yes America can pay the national debt that any nation holds over us. There is absolutely no need or even a plausible reason to war over national debt. The exporting nation simply needs to spend the money on US goods and services as the international monetary exchange system is set up to do.

how long does it take to figure out if someone has committed a crime or note ?? American politics has become quite a farce all round.

Well they investigated the Clinton emails for what, over a year? Longer? When politics and justice collide it can do nothing but slow down the process.

Google tells me the McMartin preschool case was 7 years.

In this link, there's a graph of how many days it took some different investigations.

So theoretically, we could be at this until after Trump's finally served his four year tour of duty that he dodged.

Manafort has been under investigation since at least 2014, when he angered Obama by trying to help a Ukrainian opposition party against Obama's favs, you know, the people who were installed by a political party financed by George Soros.

Manafort has done of lot of political consultation for difficult cases overseas, and has earned a lot of money doing it.

This is politicization of our federal intelligence agencies at its finest. I'm not sure his friends will care to step up to cut the hangman's noose.... you know, the Bush family, the Philippine Marcos family....

So far, no one has reported any kind of action on his part that would constitute him representing any foreign government seeking to influence American elections or undermine US national interests. Undermining Obama's and Soros' friends, maybe. Undermining globalist warmongers like McCain, probably. Importing millions of dollars of income, and doing so with a catty disregard for financial law, certainly. Pretty sure Mueller can hang him over what he's done with his money.

I think he is ruined. Trump's scapegoat, maybe. Mueller's trophy.

But who the hell is investigating Hillary's crimes, and why doesn't Bullet, Red, or any other overzealous political campfollower feel nearly so righteous about finally putting her in the hoosegaw. oh well, I think she's done herself in with her new book, and she still doesn't know what happened.

As should anyone. It doesn't take a genius to realize this guy's crooked, and connected. And you don't have to look at Russians or Ukranians.

As of February 2017, Manafort had about $12 million in home equity loans outstanding. For one home, loans of $6.6 million exceeded the value of that home; the loans are from the Federal Savings Bank of Chicago, Illinois

How else are you going to get multiple home equity loans, from the same institution, totaling a sum greater than the value of that home?

babe, Clinton is not our President, Trump is. I was not crazy about either candidate, but Trump was the demagogue, not Clinton, and a lifetime of studying history taught me to be gravely concerned by conditions in society that fasclitated the appearance of demagogues. I also don't buy into your beliefs re Soros, the CFR, etc. So far, the very best exposition of my point of view, by an historian who shares my concerns for the rise in authoritarianism in a democracy is a very short book that only recently came to my attention:

It can be read in a single sitting, and IMHO, is something that all Americans should read. Really, if I had not spent a lifetime studying history, I'm not certain I would have recognized Trump as I do at all. But, that's the way it is. I have stated in the past that folks like you and I cannot ever expect to understand one another.
