The Reason Why NFL Ratings Are Declining

It's a perfect storm of events.

1) A couple of years of awful domestic cases (i.e., Peterson, Rice, Hardy, etc.)
2) CTE
3) Declining qb play: No more Manning and Romo
4) Kneeling

Lol. With everything going on and all the many storylines, I forgot about all the domestic violence stuff. The kneeling was starting to go away and then The president of all people opened his mouth.

I think the NFL is pricing a lot of its fans out of being able to go to a live game. The fact that the product itself is inferior to years past doesn't help.

I think college football is a lot more fun to watch and much more accessible. I also think if you look at the average age of each fan base it won't be too long before the NBA takes the NFLs place as the premier American sport.

I stopped watching NFL a few years ago because I was bored watching. The domestic abuse and other stuff the NFL didnt do enough about was an easy reason to justify it. There is so much I dont like about the NFL in general though.

College football has a lot of its own problems but it seems more entertaining to me with much better story lines and games.

I still pay attention to the NFL. I will probably still watch the superbowl (mostly the commercials though) thats about it.

If not for fantasy football I would probably never watch nfl. I do love fantasy football ball though

What do u mean the NFL isn't doing enough on issues of players and DV? NFL has stiffened penalties for the offense. I'm pretty sure you are suspended indefinitely for two violations, and almost half the season for the first.

There is no such thing as you stated. The penalties vary widely based on the severity of the offense.

Players who beat their wives should not be allowed to play in the NFL again. Rice should never have been reinstated for example. It is quite rampant in the NFL and suspending a multi millionaire for a few games isnt really doing anything. A 4 game suspension is a slap on the wrist. Sexual and physical assault are not things that deserve slap on the wrists.

6 games and a second is a year ban if not more, and possible lifetime ban, and I don't believe a first time offense should be a lifetime ban

So how many times should you be allowed to beat your wife before you incur a real penalty? 3 maybe? 4?

Yeah, its going to go the way of baseball. The problem for the NFL is that no other countries have adopted American football like Japan and Latin American countries adopted baseball.

Yeah, fantasy football is the reason I even started watching the NFL as a kid.

Seriously, why would I want to watch the Bears play if I didn't have Jordan Howard on my fantasy team?

Fantasy football is the greatest thing ever created and I love it so that is one thing they will have going for them.

A quick google search shows that over 80 million people are playing fantasy football this year.

It is something I look forward to every year and I have been in a keeper league for money with friends and family going on 4 years in a row with the same people.

College football is terrible. The reason upsets are so memorable there is because they almost never happen.

In the 17 games that Top 25 teams played last week, 8 were decided by 20 or more points, 2 by 9-20 points, and 7 were decided by a TD or less (ok, to be technical 8 points or less...but one possession basically). How many upsets happened? Zero. The games are almost known before they are played.

I googled and it said 33 million.

Yeah, college football is awful unless you really like watching QB options.
