The 'BIG SWING' thread

Um.. not sure Exum is the 'absolute best option next to Mitchell'...

I see Mitchell like a Lillard type. Put the ball in his hand and let him create or go by himself to score. The 'absolute best option' to me is a Klay/McCollum type who are knock down 3pt shooter and can handle the ball some.

Exum's shooting is still suspect to me.
And everyone else. He's never proven to be a reliable shooter. Or reliable anything, for that matter. And I am not a hater.

I meant our most promising option. I would love Klay, but be realistic. I feel like we have to have faith because he is our most realistic best option. We arent going to add anything through free agency and doubtfully through the draft.

If he can play like he did in preseason, anything is possible. What we do know is that Rubio ain't cutting it, Burks is better off the bench and Hood is too MIA.

Um, I would argue Hood is easily the better option next to Mitchell... at least he'll stretch the floor giving Mitchell room to operate and drive.

You would think, but why didn't Quin try it yet? Hood's mysterious sore ankle? On paper, Hood looks like a better fit. I just don't know how well he facilitates offense.

My biggest swing would be to do whatever it would take to get one of the following on this team listed in order of desire:

1. Aaron Gordon
2a. Blake Griffin
2b. A well above average athletic 3/4 type who can score and is an above average shooter with solid defense.
3. Jabari Parker

1. Don’t see it happening.
2a. Conceivable.
2b. Can’t think of any available.
3. I think they’d want more assets than we could (would) offer.

I would trade Gobert or anyone not Mitchell for Aaron Gordon, but that is just me. Heck I would include a couple of future picks and one unprotected too. :p

Skeleton idea. I don’t think they do it and it’s a steep price for us based on a really good 1/4 of a season, especially as we’d likely have to sweeten it. My assumption is they’d want out of that Biyombo contract because it looks pretty bad.

Lol. Like, 'The best 2 guard in the league' could work next to DM could he haha. Cheers for that. And remind me how well the Lillard/McCollum pairing has fared??

Because benching Rubio may end up tanking his trade value and he may check out.
I know we are only a couple months into the season, but the emergence of Mitchell is making Rubio trade look worse and worse. With Mitchell's ability to run point sometimes, Rubio is becoming unnecessary. You are probably right and we could trade Rubio, but we won't get an asset back if anything.

I’m not all that concerned about getting an asset back and I would not rush to trade him but I think DM eventually plays PG. I would want someone who could make plays alongside him at the wing or off guard. I just hope we don’t do the thing we normally do and wait way to long to make a change.

I would love to make a Rubio for Hill swap personally. Their contracts are essentially the same length although Hill would eat up 4M in additional cap space next year. I’m sure others are opposed but even the Kings version of Hill is better than what we get with Rubio and it fits so much better with how we want to play.

Totally agree and I think both players would welcome this as neither are fitting in with their teams. We already know, and Hills knows, that he is a perfect fit for the Jazz. It's worth forfeiting cap space because Rubio, as he is playing and I see no change in a guy who has already had a long career, is a detriment to the Jazz.

Hill would ideally be better than Rubio. However, Hill is on the sharp decline. Why bring him in? Why not just dump Rubio and have faith in Neto, Exum? If Hood is our franchise SG and Mitchell out PG, why waste the money for just over 1 year?

Hill has been okay, he's just a terrible fit there and it is basketball purgatory. I think DM might be PGOTF depending on Dante. He is our creator. I think Hill would have the perfect mix of playmaking and such for him. He's not durable, but Neto can provide spot duty as needed.

I don't think we need to rid ourselves of Rubio, but this little Favs starts and plays with this group for 3 minutes then we sub is kind of dumb and we are punting 6 minutes of the game playing that way. I think we should make a move to correct this either through a Favs trade or a Rubio trade soon... once Gobert shows he is healthy.

I just think Rubio and Gobert don't mesh real well and we lose a year of development/improvement/progress by continuing to try and make it work and really his value won't go much higher or lower... book is out on him.

This isn't a big swing, but I don't know where else to post this. Locke had a podcast where he talked about the Jazz needs, and mentioned Jordan Clarkson as someone who fit the role. Then he tweets this.

Conspiracy Zyzz thinks the Jazz are going to get Clarkson for whatever reason. Locke always leaks **** like this on the low. He's done it with all of our draft picks the last 5 or so years too.

fyi, he makes $13.4 million in 2019-2020, the final year of his contract.
