Could Donovan become the GOAT?

That shot. Those hops. The passing. The vision. Those handles. And most importantly the clutch play. He's three months into his career and taking over a game against Lebron and D Wade. His dad is director of PR for the Mets and his mom is a teacher. His sister is named Jordan. He chose the number 45 to honor Jordan. He chose to wear those iconic/prophetic yellow shoes. He just turned 21.

What is his ceiling?

Of course, you're being a bit precipitous -- first, he has to become the greatest Jazz player of all-time, which I predicted back in October after the second week of the season (if he doesn't get a serious injury), just like I predicted back then he would challenge for ROY, and now it looks like he's not merely challenging but on his way to becoming ROY. But let's just hope he at least becomes a legitimate All-Star, which appears quite reasonable. It took Hayward seven years -- let's see how long it takes Donovan.

How funny would it be that Mitchell gets an All-Star nod in his rookie season as compared to Hayward taking 7? One thing is for sure, this kid is on a superstar trajectory as of now, but it's still very early in his career to get too far ahead of ourselves.

Jazz need multiple championships before you can even begin that conversation. Jazzfanz need to chill out and enjoy the ride. He’s going to be an outlier - which is amazing considering that it’s Utah, he was drafted 13th overall and he actually loves being here.

Jazz need a third star player to eventually contend. It’s exciting to have our rookie dominating the national headlines and conversations, but we’re a long ways away from being contenders.

If Lebron joins Donovan we could be contenders instantly. Seems crazy to think Lebron would ever want to live in Utah but I bet he would love to play with Donovan and Rudy. Too bad LA got Kuzma because without him does Lebron still want to join LA? Who knows though, if Donovan gets even better could Lebron put it out there that he'd love to play with him? Probably a bigger stretch than Donovan becoming the GOAT but fun to dream.

Getting Kuzma would have absolutely jump started this franchise as a legitimate contender.

Jazz need one more lights out scoring option. I still have hope for Hood, but I think it’s highly likely that he and Jingles become the team’s two most important bench guys.

Don’t see that happening. Not LeBron. Not PG13 (although I’d love that pairing.) Probably not Klay Thompson.

I think the team’s dark horse candidate for another superstar addition could be Jimmy Butler (next year) if Mitchell keeps trending up and there’s continued discord in Minnesota. If he refuses to sign his extension this offseason, they might be forced to trade him before he can become a free agent and just leave.

Mitchell, Butler, Gobert would be strait up nasty.

Could he? Yes. He needs to take the Jazz to the playoffs this year to start things off. If he can take our injury riddled roster to the playoffs as a rookie in the stacked West, that is the start of legend status.

I’m glad that the schedule eases up a bit. A run like that as a rookie would start his career off amazingly. Has anyone been asked to do that as a rookie since LeBron?

While we're(I'm) guzzling the kook-aid a parallel question could be how good of a shooter he could become. If he approached Curry levels of shooting what would that do for his overall game and quest for the GOAT?

The team's best perimeter defender, shooter, and facilitator that can also play the 4 is not coming off the bench.

It should be obvious how much coddling Hayward got from the fans and media. We were waiting for him to break out, walking on egg shells, listening to his **** about "the dark times" like he's the ****ing Gunslinger or something. Yeah playing for Ty Corbin is basically like living under Sauron or some **** like that. And then when he finally dropped his balls and scored 19 ppg we all convinced ourselves that it should take a superstar-caliber player 5 years to do so.

Rather Donovan just showed up and said, "What's up bitch? Go make me a sandwich." AND WE ARE HAPPY TO DO IT, BY THE WAY.

In other words
By the end of October, Donovan was better than Hayward as a rook.
By the end of November, Donovan was better than Hayward was after 4 years
By the end of December, Donovan is better than Hayward ever was for the Jazz.

I also wonder how all this don dada attention is affecting Rudy. Knowing Rudy, he is probably hungry as **** and chomping at the bit to get on the court and get his share of the spotlight back.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but didn't he just re-up with Washington?
Yes, they matched his contract. There was some talk of them maybe wanting to clear cap space for the summer and I think his name was thrown around but unclear of source. Good D, good rebounder, light it up from outside. Pretty perfect fit.

What would u trade to get him, can we afford him? He's not exactly a star, I don't think
