What's new

Nikola Mirotic

He still has not removed his trade demand per sauces...

I think they are in a spot where they almost have to move him. We just have to outbid the current suitors on this one.

I’m a tank advocate but I think he could be a difference maker and is at an age where it fits. Im in “get Niko for cheap or tank the eff out of this B” mode... it’s become a weird place in my jazz fandom.

You know, Olden Polynice had a tattoo on his upper arm that said “Niko.” I wonder if that’s an omen.

Those most be some good sauces you are talking to.

I don't think he will agree to a trade to the jazz unfortunately. But I would be happy if we picked him up for a reasonable deal.

I wanted the jazz to pursue him the free agency. I think they could have got him or made a sign or trade for him.

I also wanted us to trade for him last year as well.

It was in the tribune... check out Realgm.com

I wanted us to sign him too, but we only had MLE and they would have matched. They maybe would have done some sort of sign and trade, but that would essentially be the type of deal we'd have to swing for him now. I think they wanted to keep him.

I think he would 1000% accept a trade here... We have an offense that would get him the ball and he'd be a clear starter. If we brought him on I'd sit Favs (if he wasn't in the deal) and just tell him tough. There is a good chance Favs is a super backup center going forward... I think the center market is going to be so depressed... people will be shocked at the offers guys like him get.

It can't be a coincidence. Little known fact... Adam Keefe has a lower back tattoo that says LBJ... we getting Lebron bitches.

I wonder who would give a first for him... I'm guessing there aren't a ton of takers that would give a 1st without some bad salary going back.

I'm sure Porty would do a first like Cy suggested, but they would want Chicago to eat one of Moe Harkless or Meyer Leonard.

I wonder if we offered a "fake first" if it would work. So like a 2018 1st top-15/16 protected this year and lotto protected next year... if it does not convey then it converts into a second. That has a chance of conveying... If Niko moved us into 6th or 7th in the west I'd say the deal worked well for us. I'd try to do an AB and our fake first for Niko. They eat some money next year, but AB isn't completely dead money and he only has one more year on the deal.

If what Niko is doing is close to the new-Niko I think he'd tear it up in our offense. 10 more days.

There is no chance that Niko would veto a trade to the Jazz. A starring role on a good team with a Center that plasters over most of his weaknesses? The Jazz would be his ideal situation.

The fan in me has real problems with exiling Favs to Chicago, however. . .

He'd only be there for a few months unless they paid him a ton to come back... and then he is making a ton of money. It isn't Sacramento.

I like the idea of Mirotic, it just depends on how much we give up in players and opportunity cost in upcoming FA season. I believe Mirotic has a team option next year and then is an UFA. So if that is the case he's a short term player. Could be a nice one for sure, but you have to think about what you might be giving up. I'd have to think about it a little bit more.

We don't have cap space this year. If we got him could use some of the other team option guys or Ricky to match salaries in a sign and trade.

Locke mentioned Mirotic specifically and cited his no trade clause as a reason to think his market might be limited. He will want to start... he whittled it down to Portland, Utah, maybe Indiana, Atlanta, Phoenix, Sacramento where he'd be a starter.

I think it comes down to us and Portland... So does Chicago want to eat bad money? Portland may not bring back both Nurkic and Mirotic if they acquire him. If Chicago refuses to trade him he could go into pout mode and crater his value. I don't know that he would, but they'd be playing with fire a bit.

Looked around on Twitter:

Have seen proposals from Jazz fans such as Favors & a second rounder for Mirotic, or Burks and a 2nd for Mirotic.

From Bulls fan, saw Favors, Joe Johnson, Exum & top 3 protected 1st for Mirotic, Robin Lopez & Chicago 2nd rounder.

Not surprisingly, these expectations are completely out of whack with each other. Is there any common ground to be found? I think the biggest sticking point will be picks/young talent (Bulls want it; we're not willing to give it up).
