What's new

Nikola Mirotic

I don't know that much about the cap situation under different hypotheticals, but I'd find it hard to believe the FO would put us in a situation where we'd have to cut good guys on really good contracts.
I think they would want Thabo for the stretch run... JJ is really cap filler at this point.

If all this is true, I would could hypothetically be on board with:

Asik, Ajinca and NOLA's 2018 1st for Burks: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycg4nyql

then

Kennard and Detroit's 2018 1st for Hood: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7ap5yov

Instead of paying Hood and Burks $25-30 combined next year, we are paying Asik, Ajinca and Kennard less than $20. We add 2 1st rounders that we hope to package to do more trades.

Dude... Hood ain't getting Kennard and a pick... it might get the pick... maybe if SVG is desperate. You'd likely have to take on Boban or something else to get the first rounder.

That $3 million looks a lot better than what could be almost $12, but $3 million is still a decent player. That shouldn't be overlooked. We would be paying $3 million for absolutely nothing instead of a Neto, Udoh or O'Neal.

Minimum guys can be signed once over the cap... the 3M doesn't change the fact that we would have max space next year.

Woj said that Detroit tried to use Kennard and Jackson to get Evan Fournier but it couldn't happen because Jackson was hurt. If I had to guess, Jackson is not an asset anyway. He's overpaid and quite inefficient.

Exactly so they wanted to dump a contract with Kennard to get Fournier (a better player than Hood who is also cost controlled). That is not the same as a 1st and Kennard for Hood. They want to keep Bradley and paying Bradley and Hood throws them into luxury tax hell.

What is a blue player option?

Yes. There is a little key at the bottom of the salaries. The purple color is non-guaranteed and that amount depends on the player's contract. For example, Asik's 2019-20 contract isn't guaranteed but it would still cost the team $3million that season if the team let him go.

It's the color that site uses to say it is a player option. It wasn't blue though... some purple type color. That is how I misread it.

Oh okay thanks.
