Yep, I agree. Chicago showed a willingness to take on a bad deal in order to get a draft pick. Lindsey should have given them Burks and a pick that was top-7 protected. I think that would have sealed the deal two weeks ago.But even two weeks ago, rational voices (me) were saying we weren’t that bad of a team and a Rudy return would decimate the tank. I kept saying it’s a huge gamble to hold out and squeeze more from the deal, as stupid crap like Boogie rupturing his Achilles can completely change the landscape.
DL was trying to "not skip steps." He thought he could get cute, GM tank his way into a top-7 draft pick, and still get Chicago to blink at the deadline and deal Mirotic for a 2nd round pick. Lindsey blew it, plain and simple. The only way this turns out better than what he could have had is if Utah still misses the playoffs (it's not a given Jazz catch Denver or NO) and Utah wins a top-3 pick.
