Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Most players dont blow up in their 4th year. It's usually a year of struggle in a bigger role, then you have the better season when you have learned from that experience.

All I know is that Jazz fans are extremely impatient and fickle with players. Just like people freaked about about Hayward's bad year in this 4th season, or when people freaked out about Rubio starting the year off slow, it seems fans rarely want to think about context.

The Jazz still need a "star". Hood didn't seem to be that. Solid rotation guy etc. What if it takes him 7 years to develop into an all-star like Hayward? Then what? With how things are structured now, small market teams almost "need" immediate superstars to insure they have control for up to 7 years, meaning a bigger window etc.

Terrible trade. How could anyone possibly think the Jazz won a trade when they get a player whose production is literally half of that of the player we're sending to Cleveland?

This trade is horrible: Why? Because there are not a lot of teams that can offer Rodney a max contract this summer and there's more free agents than money, so Utah could've low balled him into a 15-17 mil a year deal that's cost efficient for a 2nd/3rd option on offense. Crowder is in a slump and the value of Hood should equal the Nets first provided we take back a bad contract.
I obviously don't know if Rodney wanted out or if the team wanted to get rid of him for whatever reason. I'm just not psyched about the return.

If Hood's low ball offer starts at 15M then the Jazz won this trade hands down.

Hood was really efficient for the difficulty level of the shots he took. All he has to do is figure out how to get to the FT line a couple more times a game, which he was starting to show signs of.

This trade wont hurt this year, but when he blows up next year a lot of people will be questioning it.

Hood is a sixth man who will be at his best in a scoring role off the bench. More specifically as a 3 point specialist. That's who he is. He's never going to be extremely efficient in his shooting percentages. He's never going to be a good defender. He's never going to draw a lot of fouls. He's probably never going to become a high assist total wing, probably never going to get a lot of rebounds. He's not going to blow up. We know who he is as a player at this point. He'll be a streaky shooter and scorer while going through various injuries every so often.

I think Hood will look great next to Lebron. He can shoot very well. I think his role will be a shooter when Lebron is on the court and when he isnt Hood can try and create a bit. Plus Cleveland can just not play him much when he is off.

I still dont think Hood can play for an entire season healthy. Hopefully he is healthy in the playoffs this year for Cleveland and his own sake.

It was lacking hood when we beat Toronto in Toronto, golden state by 30, and he barely played when we beat San Antonio in San Antonio where he was 2-5 from he field and a negative 2 in plus minus.

We are 10-5 this season when hood doesn’t play.

That’s quite a bit better than our overall record.

Yeah but if you make the trade on 2k with Hood and Joe the Jazz overall team shooting just went down.

I disagree. Hood was a 6th man on this team. He is a starter on most.

Hood is a good shooter with above average isolation skills who happens to be soft as Charmin and plays minus defense and can only defend one position. Give me a comp where that combo has "blown up!" That is a good rotation player, but only at the right price. A week ago I would have said that we could get him at the right price, but I'm pretty sure that DL knows his true perceived value and was unwilling to pay it. DL is better at evaluating this type of stuff than most.
