What's new

Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

well

crowder has been pretty **** for the cavs, if we can get boston crowder than we should be good, but watching crowder play this season he bricked open shots and layups nightly.

then again ..............
a coked-out death glares will change a man

The more I think about it, what playes have really played better then any other year of their careers with the Cavs this season? Crowder has a pretty decent track record and I bet he will love playing with Rudy. I'm more excited about him now then when the news first broke.

I think that's true, but I read that more as wanting to acknowledge that giving up Hood is a real cost as opposed to Jae not being good.
I agree. DL said this about Crowder specifically:

Jae is someone we’ve long admired. He’s really versatile defensively and can play really two through four with switches and physicality. His build is quite obvious and the systems that he’s played in with Dallas, Boston and Cleveland, we’ve seen enough to think that he can mesh very well in how we play. We’re really anxious to get him here.

Who’s excited to get back to their lives? I’ve spent more time on JazzFanz leading up to this deadline than probably at any other point in my life, and I’ve been a member of JF for a larger portion of my life than I haven’t.

I’m geniunely concerned that Jae will have a bad attitude and be salty. Hopefully not but he’s got a prickly personality.

I like the idea of what Jae could do for us but I have doubts. I think Quin and DL are great and will get the best out of him.

Agree on what? I didn't say it was horrible. Just that's is not all that efficient. We have other players who are more efficient that can take some of his shots.
For the type of shots Hood takes this is great efficiency.

I think it will be about being able to get moar Jae and probably less Favors. This weasels Udoh out (for this year).

Does anyone know what Locke means here in this twitter thread? Sometimes his writing is unintelligible.

It sounds like he's saying "locker room is hard to read. Sometimes what people think are "good locker room guys", actually aren't"...

I think this is technically below average (barely) efficiency. I read somewhere that it .560 is closer to average. That could be incorrect.

55% is average efficiency. Taking harder shots doesn't make it more efficient it just makes the shots he can/does take less efficient shots than some others. I think there's an argument to be made that his skills are sometimes useful, but it would be better if he could either take more efficient shots within the flow of the offense, or make more shots so that he had good efficiency instead of average.
It depends on how those shots are generated. For some 55% efficiency is meh(Crowder) because he does nothing but easy shots(catch and shoot, cuts, etc). Hood was relied to create offense and take the toughest shots for this team. Huge % of his shots were unassisted, bail us out shots. Just a comparison - Crowder gets 83% of his 2p shots assisted(most of those are gimmies), and 95% of his 3p shots assisted). Can you guess what the numbers are for Hood? 32% and 70%!!!! I don't know if people realize how hard that is. This is in the Harden realm! This is how much we relied on Hood to create offense for us and the efficiency with which he did this year has been great! Not good, not average! GREAT! If you gave Crowder those shots his TS% would probably be in the low 40s. Now that we've traded Hood we actually need to get someone to create offense for the second unit... like... u know... someone like Hood?

Now I’m sad... it sounded like the relationship went south though so keeping him seemed out of the question.
