What's new

San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz - Mon. Feb 12th 7pm MST

"Best win of the year" is getting thrown around a lot lately which is great. "We were off" makes it not so imo. Gritty as hell to be sure though.

Being able to overcome adversity like that and our level of determination and competitiveness was my team highlight so far this year.

That maybe the most impressive win thus far in terms of digging deep. Even with a couple of their players out, that's still Popovich and and the Spurs. As someone pointed out on Twitter, our lineup to close that game was:

A rookie.
An undrafted rookie.
A 30 yo Aussie that was waived by another team.
A UFA that everyone thought we'd trade and some thought would be bought out.
A player coming off a down lockerroom situation that'd been with the team for one game.

And they win.

Royce's "Tunnel of Love" D on Manu in the closing seconds was straight-up artwork and Favs was just a demon out there. I'm sure even Sloan would have cracked a grin at that.

I'm not worried about DM's efficiency right now for a few reasons. He's drawing double teams and opponents are keying in on him. This is actually good because the Jazz make them pay for it. I'm sure Quin and DM figure out how to spring him loose. It should help once Rubio's back as well, assuming his tear continues. What matters is he's a 21 yo rookie with the ability to take a team on his back and pull through when they need him.

And Rudy, being the highest paid player on the team, sits himself after our Coach asks him what he wanted to do. All because Favs was just playing ballistic and knows they probably don't win that game otherwise.

This team is something special I think. I'm all in.

ALL ABOARD!

Nobody in the West wants the Jazz in the playoffs. They’re not a 6th, 7th or 8th seed caliber team. Hopefully they can get business taken care of in Phoenix and keep the buzz going through the All Star break. Simply amazing.

I hope that's true. My respect for him will go about 100x more if it is. That's putting aside ego for the team in the biggest way.
The great performances of Ingles, favors and Gobert is what won utah this game, not mitchell's poor shooting.
Most of the credit for our winning streak should goes to these guys.

DM jacked up 73 shots the last 3 games for an inefficient 77 points. He is a selfish chucker who wants to win ROY. If Ingles and Favors did not step up in the last few games, we would have lost a least half of those games.

C'mon man this is too much hate.

Trust me I'm an Aussie homer - and this is a bad take.

Gonna hand out some credit for this run and you leave out Rubio who has been huge.

In mentioning that Jingles fouled Ginoldbe, why does it matter when the play should have been dead for being out of bounds. Quite a bit got missed in this game by a fairly shoddy officiating performance.

So trout has an Australian parody alt. Good to know.

Have we not gone there before, and how does the "hot hand" relate to last night's game?

Oh, you've had this conversation before? I'm so sorry for wasting your time. I'll check to make sure a subject is new to you before posting next time.

But ya, flip a coin a million times, and sometimes you'll hit heads 8 times in a row, and you'd think you're totally feeling it. The coin feels lighter, and your fingers feel snappier. But it's an illusion.

Basketball shooting is obviously more complicated. Sometimes you'll face good defense that shuts you down, other times you'll face the Sun's and score 40. Sometimes you'll feel sick and without energy. Other times you feel great.

But with a large enough sample, things even out. And looking at those numbers, there is no evidence that hitting any number of shots in a row increases your percentage on the next shot/s.

Or that Anderson traveled.

I think the study was done and actually debunked the hot hand theory.

What does this have to do with last night's game?
