NBA Stars' Comments and Reactions to Rookie Donovan Mitchell

Donovan winning the media attention battle. To be clear, this only references the Media Day interviews for Team USA, but DM had 40-50 media at his interview, as opposed to 10-15 for all others. I like how he's giving recognition to a lot of other rookies, from Kuzma to Tatum. Nothing but nice things to say and no self-promotion in the selected quotes.

I've got a very bold prediction to make with absolutely no source to back it up. Just a gut feeling. DM is going to attract a big name player to come to Utah. And another vet like JJ who wants to play on a contender. There are only so many slots on teams like Houston, GS and Cleveland (or the Lakers if George/Lebron go there). Some other all-stars could very well see Utah as a top-tier playoff team as soon as next season. We already saw the tide turn with Mirotic. He wanted to play in Utah. Crowder, of course, arrived via trade, but loves the team.

ESPN writers Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz did a draft of the players from tonight's rising stars game.
http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...ntial-ben-simmons-lonzo-ball-joel-embiid-more

Here is the draft order

1. Embiid
2. Our Mitchell
6-3 | SG | Age: 21.4

Jonathan Givony: Embiid was the big prize, and the guy I would have picked No. 1 as well, so obviously the draft starts here. What Mitchell is doing this year has been amazing, and I'd love to build my team around his talent and character. The fact that he can guard three positions, shoot off the dribble and bring real combo-guard skills has him looking like a franchise-caliber player.
3. Ingram
4. Simmons
JG: This is a bitter pill, and Schmitz knows it. The jury is still out on Simmons' ability to contribute to winning, but you can't doubt his ability to rack up stats and triple-doubles.
5. Tatum
6. Murray
7. Ball
8. Brown
9. Smith Jr.
10. Markkanen

1 and 2 are pretty easy and I agree. Anyone in the NBA would take Embiid #1. Anyone smart would take Mitchell #2. I think Markkanen is too low but its not bad.

Should Ingram really be 3?
I don’t ever watch him this year but every time I have seen him play it seems like he kinda sucks

He has played pretty well since Ball went down and has become their play maker. He is playing kind of like Simmons but with a good shot this month.

This is the same Givony who said Ingram should be taken as the No1 pick in the 2016 Nba draft. LOL. But right now We all know Ben is the much better player with higher upside. Givony clearly spoke out of his arse. givony clearly does not like simmons. His opionion should not be taken seriously.

Ingram could be really special, but Simmons already is and could become much better/more productive. But don't discount Ingram.

The following is the most stupid and insane comment Givony made back in 2016. Good luck for trusting his analysis of players, Mitchell homers.

""" Simmons’ porous defense is masked by his gaudy steal and block numbers. But when watching him closely, it’s clear that no opposing player or coach fears attacking him. As Simmons rarely makes the effort to close out on shooters, put a body on opposing big men, or offer much beyond gambling wildly swiping for steals, his lack of intensity is amplified. He has wonderful anticipation skills as a rebounder and will wow you with his instincts in passing lanes. But overall, Simmons hasn’t shown the length, toughness and inclination to emerge as an asset on the defensive end. """

U realize Simmons didn't give 100% effort in college, right? U knew that right? So Givony gave his scouting report for what he saw on the court.

U are the biggest idiot, goodbye.

Doubt you can have Favors on the books or Rubio for more than the MLE (would have to renounce rights) in order to go after him. Which is fine as I still see Mitchell as the 1 on this team, and I think it would be the coolest to have Ingles, Crowder, and Kawhi playing interchangeably 2-4.

How did you know he did not try ? Not trying during his one year stint with LSU meant that he would have jeopardised his draft stock and risk getting drafted behind Imgram, therefore making less money, getting a smaller sponsorship and shoe deal. Why would Ben deliberately ruin his financial futute and Nba future by not playing hard? Do you think Simmons was that stupid?
looks like you are the biggest idiot. Good Bye!

Ya, it dont matter anyway. Spida, Stifle, and Kahwi with Quin equals championship contenders regardless of supporting cast.

Kawhi is my favorite non-Jazz player in the NBA. I'd honestly **** my pants in excitement if he ever came over.
