What's new

How long til we can trust Jae Crowder?

1st of all ,Jazz need to let Exum play for better or worst because the better is that Exum and DM could give Jazz some serious speed and athleticism that they are just flatout not use too.
This grit and grind play of Crowder and O'Neale is not going to get Jazz to the playoffs or make them better for the long run. The points have grinded to a halt and Jazz are struggling to score when they need to the most.
For this offseason ,go get Hezonja ...he would look really good with Exum and Mitchell

Uhh O’Neale looks like one of the quicker more explosive athletes on the team.
And Hezonja is a hack

Crowder shouldn't be judged until after he's had a full off-season with the team. He's still in the proces of integratimg/brushing off his (fixable) poor tendencies developed in CLEn, seemingly due to their style of play/offense. At minimum, he should be a key role-player for a couple more seasons. However if he gets back to knocking down 3s consistently, his value, effectiveness, bargain contract, etc all increase significantly. Honestly, I see almost no scenario in which this trade turns out poorly on our end. Barring Hood becoming a legitimate superstar. It may not have been a flashy trade but I fully expect it to be an impactful one .

I think the better question is, how long until we figure out that Crowder just isn't that good? He's not good on either end, and his "hustle" is getting confused with recklessness.

Probably as long as it took some people to comprehend the fact that the Bermuda triangle wasn't the root of all our problems.

Im not there yet. Every time he shoots it's an adventure for me. I don't think it's going in every time still.

I feel like Jae is taking pretty good shots for the most part, they're just not going in. That will come in time. He's making an impact no matter what, unlike Hood

I'd roll with Jae, good people.

I’d roll with the whole team. I can’t think of a single player whose personality, what we see at least, that bugs me.

Gobert, Crowder, Mitchell, Ingles, O’Neale, Rubio, Favors, Jerebko...

To use Crowder as an example/excuse to bring this up, DL deserves serious credit for utilizing a strategy that has been seemingly neglected/undervalued by focusing on competitive players that fit the team culture. I still believe that talent typically wins out, especially in this current NBA. But stockpiling 'winning players' is a fantastic, alternative strategy. Which actually has the potential to produce a title in our case due to the fortunate fact that 2 of those 'prototypical Jazz men' are legitimaten, young superstars. I consider myself fortunate to be a Jazz fan, Future championship or not, I look forward to rooting for this team to the end.

The make-up of the current core + the apparent direction (personnel/character-wise) is a virtual prototype of the way a team should be constructed. (Although unfortunately I still think we're 1 more star away from a title, more so due to the state of the league rather than our talent).

This has been part of the Dubs strategy imo. They have not only elite talent and shooting but a lot of toughness with Green, Zaza (Bogut before), Iggy, etc.

Get athletic, multi-faceted guys who can shoot and buy into playing great defense. Have a big body who can rebound and play d at the 5. We have the 5 and a multi-faceted guy in Mitchell. In Ingles too but he’s more of a bench/5th man imo.

If Rubio ever developed his shot, he’d be one of those guys so I’m very curious to see if there’s growth next year. Exum could maybe be one too. But I highly doubt either are gonna be your typical top 2-3 guy on a championship team type of guy.

That’s what we need. One more gem in the draft to become a stud. Or for Exum to turn into Kobe. And for Rubio to stay in Utah and work on his shot this summer and come back next year hitting ~36% from 3.
