Welcome to Colton's Mock Draft Compilation, v. 9.0. Here are who the mock drafts are listing as the "best players". See below for details. It should give a pretty good idea of who will be available when the Jazz pick.

1 Kyrie Irving (formerly 1)
2 Derrick Williams (2)
3 Brandon Knight (4)
4 Enes Kanter (3)
5 Kemba Walker (5)
6 Jan Vesely (7)
7 Kawhi Leonard (6)
8 Jonas Valanciunas (8)
9 Bismack Biyombo (9)
10 Alec Burks (10)
11 Tristan Thompson (11)
12 Donatas Motiejunas (12)
12 Marcus Morris (12)
14 Jordan Hamilton (12)
15 Chris Singleton (15)
16 Jimmer Fredette (16)
17 Markieff Morris (17)
18 Klay Thompson (19)
19 Kenneth Faried (20)
20 Tobias Harris (18)
21 Reggie Jackson (21)
22 Tyler Honeycutt (22)
23 Josh Selby (23)
23 Darius Morris (28)
25 Marshon Brooks (25)
26 Lucas Noquiera (24)
27 Nikola Mirotic (25)
28 Davis Bertans (29)
29 JaJuan Johnson (unranked)
30 Kyle Singler (unranked)

On the first round bubble: Jordan Williams, Trey Thompkins, Nolan Smith, Justin Harper, Nikola Vucevic

Ranking details: I used the following mock drafts as "voters" for the best players. That is, I assumed they ranked the players in the order that they felt like the players deserved to be drafted. (This is an incorrect assumption, because some mock drafts account for perceived team need, but it should be close.) Then I used the "instant run-off voting" algorithm in a program I wrote to deduce who deserved to be ranked in the top spot, then in the second spot, then in the third spot, and so forth. See here for details on that algorithm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting

Changes from v 8.0: There are FOURTEEN mock drafts which are new and/or have been updated since the last version of my compilation.

Interesting that a majority of mock drafts now think that the Jazz would prefer Knight over Kanter.

This wouldn't be the end of the world.

I have to admit Marshon Brooks game, athletic ability and length are growing on me. I think he will be an NBA player.

Knight is a risk but so is Kanter.

I think Derrick Williams will be the best player in the draft hands down in 5 years.

probably because they saw his measurements and figured the jazz don't need another PF.

Knight is the clear choice right now for the jazz.

I think some teams put more priority on need, not the Jazz. KOC has clearly stated this every interview and don't think they are factoring it in. The Jazz will never attract a superstar free agent, they have to draft one, plain and simple.
Does 6'1 Brandon Knight project to be a superstar over some of these bigs? Didn't think so.

Knight and Kanter are both risky picks, but if your going the "risky route", you should probably go big. Kanter could be Kwame Brown or Knight could be Dee Brown.

C'mon man, I've not pimped Knight at all for a Jazz pick, but to call him 6-1" is amateur. He's +6-3"+ in shoes. And his wingspan is 'above average'.

I prefer barefoot measurements, but ok he is 6'3". Still smaller than we expected and probably not big enough to spend any time at SG. That was one of the reasons I liked him before, and let me justify his trigger happiness. I can't do that anymore.

Of course he says that, but just because he drafted Hayward as his BPA last year doesn't change his history of drafting for need

what in the world????? Because nba players run around barefoot??? At6'3" he can play both positions. And that is the size he was always said to be. Dont run around making **** up to push your kanter agenda.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but there isn't anyone in this draft projected to be a superstar -even Dwill2 and Irving are projected as marginal superstar talent.

I find it funny how everyone has complained about Al's size at the 5 all year, yet they want to jump on Kanter's wagon. I don't get it...

Has anyone seen Aldridge's mock draft at NBA.com??

He has the Jazz taking Jonas Valanciunas at the 3 and Thompson at 12. The Jimmer falls all the way to 30.
