Game 5: Termination Game -- Jazz @ Thunder 4/25/2018 7:30 pm MST

I was so tired last night that I completely slept through the comeback. It's almost surreal what happened. At least, the Jazz only have to win one of the last 2 games. I do agree that game 6 is a must-win, though. Paul George was unrealistically hot in Game 1, and Westbrook was beyond good in Game 5, so the law of averages should mean that they come down to earth next game.

Here's my story: When Utah was up by 23 or something like that it was about 9pm, which is bedtime for my two kids (ages 3 and 5). The game was going well, so I took time to tuck them in, read each of them a story, do the whole routine, about 20 minutes in all. When I came back upstairs the game was tied. It was a real shock. I didn't see it happen, I just saw the outcome, the final quarter. Felt like a weird bad dream.

I hope you've learned your lesson. You preach about the Jazz game outcomes affecting your family, but then you go be short-sighted, thinking you're doing the good fatherly thing, only to have it result in the L and now your family has to suffer the fallout.

This last game was also a lesson about never letting your foot off the acceleration until the game is over. I know as a Tennessee Titans fan. The years of Jeff Fisher being the most conservative coach ever was beyond frustrating.

Part of the learning process. If Jazz win Game 6, I would be more confident about the next series.

Then again, its really sad though how they played really well for the first half, and how Crowder couldve been
the storyline for this game, I mean after practically each of the starting 5 having great games or highlights within the past 3 wins, we
still have another guy on the bench who can deliver a starter performance.

Well, I committed an even greater sin. I didn't wear my lucky socks until about 7pm. So I spent the day without sending lucky sock vibes to the team. So in multiple ways, this one is on me.

Crowder shot it well, but then fell in love with it a bit too much. 6-14 3pt. That's a lot of attempts. If he can lower the attempts and hit at 38% or above that would be awesome. I think it's possible. He was in a funk for a while, but let's see him go on a hot streak.

6/14 = 43%. I’ll let him shoot 14 threes every game if he can do that.

Other thoughts: Elimination games are really tough and we made it tougher on ourselves by blowing that lead. Now our guys will get another opportunity to experience what its like to close out against a decent team. The Thunder aren't terrible. We can grow from this. Nothing comes that easy for these guys.
