Can Somebody Explain What The Hell Happened Last Night?

OK, obviously here in New York City we don't get a lot of Jazz games to watch. Four total -- TNT, NBA network, ESPN do not schedule Jazz games. After last night's embarrassment I am wondering how a team could get so humiliated -- and at home, no less!

- What exactly what wrong with the Jazz last night?
- Do those beatings take place regularly?
- Why don't you guys use Netto more?
- How about that Stockton clone who only got twenty seconds of playing time? Even if he has one tenth of his old man's talent, that would be enough to keep the game closer last night.
- Why don't you just run the offense through that guy O'Neale. He was the only Jazz player that showed up.

To be honest, I shut the game off when the Jazz were down by I think it was 80 at one point. And I think they were down by 80 in the first quarter. Man, what a horrendous showing for a national audience. Now I know why the networks do not schedule Jazz games.

Play better for God's sake! Basketball fans like me want to see a game, not a Houston Rockets practice session.

Houston made literally everything and played like Rudy Gobert on the defensive end.

In other words, they used cheat codes.

The Jazz lost the game in the first quarter. They arent explosive enough offensively to comeback from that big a deficit against an elite team.

Also, in Game 2 the Jazz made a lot of tough shots. In game 3 the Jazz missed a lot of tough shots, and misses against Houston leads to offense.

It might just end up Utah got really lucky in game 2. With no Rubio our offense feels like a mystery box.

We're obviously not as good as them. They won what 64 games and own 2 of the top 10 players in the league. We need Rubio back, and some luck, to win this series.

Too much isolation offense against a team that is ten times better at that. Jazz need to play like a team to have any chance and they forgot that last night. I'd be surprised if the Jazz can win another game in this series, but they've managed to surprise me before, so we'll see.

For now, my 4-1 Rockets prediction still seems most likely.

we have a tendency to disappear for long stretches offensively. Houston has a tendency to score 30 points in 8 minutes. Its a bad combo when they are both happening at once.

I want to know what happened? I mean Really Know....

Well take a seat, hold on tight and just to be safe while you wait you better hold your breath

Jazz looked slow and sluggish. Rockets looked awesome. Total blowout. Game was over by the early 3rd quarter.

1. Rubio was out
2. There's no go to scorer besides Mitchell
3. The Rockets actually gave a crap
4. The Rockets literally couldn't miss from anywhere. Historically good shooting
5. Stuff happens against a 60+ win team

Cliffsnotes version. Jazz had horrible offensive gameplan/execution that led to a lot of turnovers and bad shots, which led to a lot of transition for the Rockets. Rockets thrive in transition, and it got them going. Once that happened, there was nothing the Jazz could do.

Mitchell played his worst game of the year, tried to be a hero. Ingles had some horrible passes. Jazz couldn't make anything at the basket. Rubio running the point with Mitchell drawing attention without the ball is a much better option for the Jazz.

I just don't get the Joe lobs. Even in games where Joe is playing well, he will still manage to throw up at least 2 lobs at the rim when there is no chance Rudy or Derrick can get it.

In game two, he threw a lob to Mitchell in the paint, while Mitchell was surrounded by three Houston defenders -- yeah, that went well, Donovan got his 4th foul and had to go to the bench. That pass had no business being thrown, but don't worry, Joe, the TO was credited to DM instead of you.

Last night, Joe's 1st quarter lobs were so horrendous that even Carlesimo said those passes had no chance. And they were so careless and came so early in the game that they pretty much set the tone for how we would play.

I know Donovan has stupid turnovers in every game, but usually they happen from his miss-handling the ball or from trying too hard. Most of Joe's TOs come from lazy or nonsensical passes.

I mean, if we're being real, this is exactly how much of the GSW series went last year and how a bulk of game one went for the Jazz this past week. The Rockets are on an entirely different level than Utah. To put it into college terms, the Jazz is a MAC team and the Rockets are like a top-level SEC team (think Georgia or Alabama). Game two was probably a fluke - a game that happens when the Rockets go cold and we don't. The problem here is that you can't bank on a team of the Rockets caliber going cold often enough to win the series. So, it wouldn't surprise me if game four is just a replay of games one and three. There's one outlier so far in this series and it's game two. So far Utah has been down 20+ in two games ... no reason to believe that won't happen again tomorrow.

Yep. Two lobs to Capela every game, for some reason.

Did you miss game 2 where we had about 7 or 8 lob dunks to Gobert/Favors?
